As I said in the Acuna thread, the grievance stuff doesn't matter. The only thing that matters from the Braves end is the years of control. If the players are unhappy down the road then you can give them more money to make them happy or trade them to a team that will. In the end either the player will be happy with the salary or if unhappy will wind up getting closer to their worth.
thank you weso1!
Why can Atlanta never have a top 10 payroll?Who said it’s not allowed or sustainable?Liberty?
That’s garbage.
A good owner can still make plenty of money having the 7th or 8th highest payroll in this market.
We are a top 10 market.
I get what your saying and it’s great that we now control the kids on the cheap, but Liberty has brainwashed our fan base into thinking we are San Diego or Oakland poor when we are much closer to Houston or Washington.
It all depends on what owners you have and how they view the importance of winning.
Clearly Liberty views us as a way to improve there portfolio and money is the driving force for them where as most owners view a sports team as a hobby and something to brag about with there rich buddies while still making solid money.
We are all excited about the recent deals we’ve made but let’s wait and see if they put real money into this team this summer at the trade deadline and winter.
By all accounts they have hit a home run with the signing of Acuna and Albies but what they do from here on out is going to be much more fascinating to me.

Albies: "I don't look at it just from money because I'm not playing for money. I'm playing for my career. I took it because I want my family to be safe."
I am legitimately stunned. I was on twitter, saw the news and I thought it was a joke. This is a great, great deal for the Braves. They've set themselves up to be good for a long, long time if they don't make any stupid signings. You don't get these opportunities very often, the Braves have to take advantage of the expanded financial flexibility they'll gain with these two signings. Stunned.

Man. Seeing that got me a little misty eyed.
So we basically locked up Ozzie and Acuna for 9 years around 160 mill. Roughly 17.5 million per year for two all stars.

Ozzie and Acuna's bromance will be the stuff of legends when they retire.
This is incredible work by AA. He saved all of his heavy lifting for in-season moves. I’m flabbergasted! Ozzie and Acuña are a package deal never to be separated!
No clue why he would sign this, but I'm happy. What a deal.
Now is the time to extend Snitker. 7 years, $7.25/hr.

I love Donaldson, but we are paying him 23 million for one year and Albies 35 million for 7. What?
Not sure if this was posted, but this article is pretty interesting.

Lol at this part
Lol my favorite part
“ZiPS expects that, going year-by-year, Albies could be expected to make $282 million through the theoretical ninth and final season of his contract extension. In other words, ZiPS is estimating that Albies, in return for this contract, is giving up more than $200 million on average.”
