If you always try to bargain hunt youll miss out on impact players that help you win championships. Id rather have a 6 WAR player with minimal surplus value over 3 2 WAR players with more surplus value. You need high impact players to have a great team and not just bargains.

And when you have absurdly good deals like acuna/albies you have flexibility to bring ina star like Rendon at market rates.

Yes, the random trek through irrational thought is made by many posters on this board.

I personally think he ends up getting Kimbrel after the draft.

Striking out 29.5% of the time in 368 Triple A PAs. Can't plan on him being an every day guy with that happening. If he figures it out, great. But hopefully AA is planning out alternatives.

If he were blasting homers like Gallo or someone. Then we might live with that.

Traditionally Riley is a slow starter at every level. He’s taken at least a half season to get acclimated before taking off. I’d be a bit more patient as of yet on him

Perhaps but given the contracts Albies and Acuna got, it gives the Braves more money/leeway to get a big contract player like Rendon. Rendon is a top 2-3 3B, in his prime, elite defensively, absolutely mashes, where do i sign.

I think the backup plan is resigning Donaldson. A lot of people here are dreaming about Rendon but those are just dreams. The Braves aren't shopping on the Rendon aisle of free agents.

I really think we will see Donaldson as a Braves for the next 3 years playing on a series of one year high AAV contracts.

If JD has a healthy and productive 2019, he won't be available for a 1 year deal. That calf injury is the only reason AA got JD for $23M.
