Good final 2 games, despite the bad series vs AZ, somehow 1 GB in the division.

Nope--I'm not fooled. One game over .500 is still garbage.

Sad part is we should easily have a 3-4 game lead right now but our pen has been that bad

I'm telling you guys, its entirely plausible that 85-87 wins will take this division. We are all gonna beat up on each other all year. Playing against the AL Central and playing the Marlins 19 times may inflate that number a tad, but I think wins are going to be suppressed across the NL this year. The Dodgers are the only team with a great chance at winning 95+ in my opinion.

I'm really starting to come around on him, certainly. If he can stay healthy and consistent all year, he looks like a guy capable of putting up some good numbers. I do want to see the strikeout rate continue to improve, though.

I think in yesterdays game he is just trying to go deep into the game and is inviting contact after being forced to throw 10 extra pitches in the first inning. I want to see him gain more confidence in the changeup and that tight slider in on the righties.

Either way, the dude is legit. He is hitting the corners with his fastball and despite the data, which of course is great data from Encheff, a well located fastball, even without spin, at 94-97 is going to give hitters fits.

I only got to see about two innings of Fried but he looked like he didn’t have great command of his curve. He walked two that inning I think. Although some of those pitches were strikes. But even then he stayed out of the middle of the zone and never looked rattled. Really digging what he is doing. Which brings me to my point. He is on record as saying working out of the pen last year really helped him last year. I wonder if we did that with wright/wilso/touki would be more beneficial to their growth later this year. We are married to this pitching and we are going to live and die by it.

he only "struggled" in the 1st and 2nd. and the zone seemed tight.

Yes. Those were the innings I saw. He missed several curves high. Looked like he was still trying to get the feel. But like I said he never seemed to be panicked or in any real threat. He is going to be a pleasure to watch all season.

If espn is correct, we'll get our first look at our full rotation this week:

    Tuesday - gausman
    Wed - soroka
    Thurs - Julio
    Friday - folty
    Sat - fried

The Wilson promotion must be for the pen then.
