    Congress returns this week.
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Lastly, the new House Judiciary impeachment resolution — which other outlets reported will be on Wednesday, but the Press’ source is adamant will not be on that day — is to provide the committee with clear methods for handling an anticipated flood of confidential grand jury evidence from the Mueller Probe.

Today’s news is a very important milestone on the roadmap to holding President Trump accountable, and the House Judiciary Committee is voting on formalizing their impeachment inquiry primarily because his blanket cover-up has reached the point where the House of Representatives has to escalate their official proceedings against him

Impeachable offense # 48, or is that 448? I lost count.

"Washington (CNN) In a previously undisclosed secret mission in 2017, the United States successfully extracted from Russia one of its highest-level covert sources inside the Russian government, multiple Trump administration officials with direct knowledge told CNN.

A person directly involved in the discussions said that the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.

The decision to carry out the extraction occurred soon after a May 2017 meeting in the Oval Office in which Trump discussed highly classified intelligence with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. The intelligence, concerning ISIS in Syria, had been provided by Israel."

The consequences of Captain Orangehead's blunders to the decline of America's global strength will continue surfacing for years.

It should be noted that "multiple Trump administration officials" leaking this to CNN would be serious mutiny within the ranks.

The consequences of Dems histrionics and self-aggrandizing blunders to the decline of America's global strength will continue surfacing for years.
Yes. We've continually seen Dem "leadership" in the State dept and Spy agencies falsify scenarios to make their case for 2020 in lieau of any type of cohesive platform. TDS runs deep. They will sink the economy. They will sink NK peace accords. They will sink alliances. All to fulfill their temper tantrum. This is very likely a self-generated hit piece like all the others continually flooding the sadistic Democrat Media Complex. A pinch of Russia and their lapdog subjects will lick it up likw peanut butter.

The emoluments clause, also called the foreign emoluments clause, is a provision of the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 9, Paragraph 8) that generally prohibits federal officeholders from receiving any gift, payment, or other thing of value from a foreign state or its rulers, officers, or representatives. The clause provides that:No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

The Constitution also contains a “domestic emoluments clause” (Article II, Section 1, Paragraph 7), which prohibits the president from receiving any “Emolument” from the federal government or the states beyond “a Compensation” for his “Services” as chief executive.

The plain purpose of the foreign emoluments clause was to ensure that the country’s leaders would not be improperly influenced, even unconsciously, through gift giving, then a common and generally corrupt practice among European rulers and diplomats. An early version of the clause, modeled on a rule adopted by the Dutch Republic in 1651 that forbade its foreign ministers from receiving “any presents, directly or indirectly, in any manner or way whatever,” was incorporated into the Articles of Confederation (1781) as Article VI, Paragraph I: Nor shall any person holding any office of profit or trust under the United States, or any of them, accept any present, emolument, office or title of any kind whatever from any King, Prince or foreign State; nor shall the United States in Congress assembled, or any of them, grant any title of nobility.

All but the prohibition of titles of nobility was dropped from the initial draft of the Constitution but eventually restored at the request of Charles Pinckney, who argued at the Constitutional Convention for “the necessity of preserving foreign Ministers & other officers of the U.S. independent of foreign influence.” The final text of the clause included a provision that permitted acceptance of foreign gifts with the explicit approval of Congress, perhaps reflecting the awkward experience of Benjamin Franklin, who as American minister to France had been presented with a bejeweled snuff box by Louis XVI and, not wishing to offend the king, asked Congress for permission to keep it (permission was granted).

Although there has been some debate regarding the exact meaning and scope of the foreign emoluments clause, nearly all scholars agree that it applies broadly to all federal officeholders, appointed or elected, up to and including the president. That interpretation is supported by the historical record, such as it is, of the Constitution’s drafting as well as by the past practice of presidential administrations and Congresses. Thus Edmund Jennings Randolph, one of the Framers, remarked at the Virginia ratifying convention that the clause protected against the danger of “the President receiving Emoluments from foreign powers,” even asserting that a president who violates the clause “may be impeached.” There was no recorded dissent from Randolph’s view. From at least the early 19th century, presidents who were offered gifts by foreign states routinely requested Congress’s permission to accept them, and foreign rulers were politely informed (sometimes by the president himself) of the constitutional restriction regarding gifts. (The sole exception seems to have been George Washington, who accepted a print from the French ambassador without consulting Congress.)

The foreign emoluments clause also broadly encompasses any kind of profit, benefit, advantage, or service, not merely gifts of money or valuable objects. Thus, it would prohibit a federal officeholder from receiving special consideration in business transactions with a foreign state (or with a corporation owned or managed by a foreign state) that gave the officeholder a competitive advantage over other businesses. Arguably, as the legal scholar Laurence Tribe and others have suggested, the clause would forbid even competitively fair transactions with foreign states, because the profit accruing to the officeholder would fall within the ordinary meaning of “emolument,” and because such arrangements would threaten exactly the kind of improper influence that the clause was intended to prevent.

lets bear in mind, Nixon was not impeached for the Watergate Break-in and Capone was not sent to prison over racketeering but tax evasion. Shoot, that may come up too

1/ Trump falsely claimed executive privilege for someone (Corey Lewandowski) who never worked in the White House, and did so with the intent to block testimony about his 10 criminal acts of Obstruction of Justice, thus committing another impeachable act of Obstruction of Justice.

2/ Trump then sent his lawyers to sit behind Lewandowski at the hearing—but if you believe this was to intimidate Lewandowski, you're wrong, as Trump, having dangled an endorsement for Lewandowski's Senate run, has already offered an illegal (impeachable) inducement for perjury.

3/ Lewandowski then went on to commit contempt—refusing to answers questions asked to him and filibustering by talking over questioners. Throughout, he was egged on by GOP House members—who've gleefully drafted a new definition for Obstruction they'd never apply to a *black man*.

4/ The definition of Obstruction now in use by the GOP has never been used in the history of our criminal justice system. Nor do Republicans believe in it; the moment any black, brown, or poor person tries to argue Obstruction means what the GOP says, they'll lose and go to jail.

5/ I've said before and say again that the GOP no longer stands for rule of law, free/fair elections, democracy or due process. But in fact it's worse than this—at the national level, the Republican Party has become an enemy of all of these things. Democrats must act accordingly.

6/ Impeach this criminal president. Ignore his rhetoric and that of his cronies. Do the right thing no matter the cost. Hold witnesses in contempt who are in contempt—seek to jail them if they violate court orders. Refer witnesses who commit perjury for federal prosecution. Also:

7/ Make clear to witnesses who commit perjury before Congress that they will be *aggressively prosecuted for perjury* the moment rule of law is restored in the United States, which will happen only with the departure of Donald Trump from the White House and William Barr from DOJ.

8/ The games must end today. No more witnesses acting like Corey Lewandowski; Lewandowski should have been taken to court for contempt 10 seconds into his testimony. No more setting policy or strategy based on a fear of what Trump or the Republicans will do. *Do the right thing

9/ Trump has some supporters who aren't racist, and many millions who are. If you're a racist Trump supporter thrilled by how Lewandowski testified today, I want you to picture every trial in which a black or brown person is the defendant being conducted as this sort of *circus*.

10/ I know millions of Trump's poor white supporters desperately want a billionaire president to get special treatment in court and under law—treatment poor whites never get—but it doesn't work that way: if the GOP destroys rule of law, it's destroyed. It doesn't suddenly return.

UPSHOT/ All Americans should watch the public destruction of U.S. rule of law. Listen to attorneys from across the political spectrum telling you that this is not how testimony works, this is not what Obstruction means, this is not how we conduct public discourse in America. /end

PS/ Media has an obligation now to uphold norms while rule of law is inactive: media must identify Obstruction when it occurs; identify contempt when it occurs; identify impeachable offenses as they've always been identified; not criticize Democrats for fighting for rule of law.

Articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon:

Article I – Obstruction of Justice
Article II – Abuse of Power
Article III – Contempt of Congress

Corey Lewandowski committed 2 of the 3 listed above— and cited Trump’s violation of Article II as his reason why.
