    Impeachment

Is on the national discussion table and events are swirling around the possibility.

Nixon’s third Article of Impeachment was

contempt of Congress when he refused their oversight subpoenas.

Trump is doing the same because he gave Top Secret clearance

to his family, who were objectively denied, and doesn’t want

    to tell the world why.

which reminds me of this exchange :

JUDGE: Are you trying to show contempt for this court?

MAE WEST: I was doin' my best to hide it.'

Nixon’s Attorney General, John Mitchell, was convicted

and went to prison for perjury, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

Barr is really a great exemplar of the GOP itself - He is the trident of entitlement,
arrogance, and condescension. He believes he is cleaning up a mess made by
the peasants so that the rightful kings (rich, white men) can get on
    with their business.

I think Barr and Trump are baiting the Dems. They need to keep in mind that the priority is to win the political war. They need to act on the basis on cold-blooded calculation not outrage.

My recommendation: Hold lots of hearings. Call many witnesses. Let the whole thing play out in a leisurely fashion. Move toward impeachment only if polling data and/or Republican defections indicate there is something to be gained from doing so.

In some ways the Benghazi hearings are a model to follow. The idea is to do damage to a political opponent. The Dems have a lot of material to work with. Throw it all against the wall and see what sticks.

I can think of no better economic stimulus than Washington distracting itself with long, drawn out impeachment hearings.

The most substantial and frightening statement made by Barr on Wednesday was:

If a US President decides he or she is innocent, dismissing investigation(s) or investigator(s) is not obstruction of justice.

A sitting US AG just advocated for an Autocracy with limitless powers.

If the voters insist on voting for a liar and criminal like Trump, then the country really doesn't deserve a system based on rule of law. And a significant portion of the electorate doesn't seem to even want it.

Clinton received 65,844,610 votes, or 48.2% of the total vote.

    Trump received 62,979,636 votes,

nor did they vote for the wars in the middle east or the Bush43 tax cuts
    .................

Thats what makes them qualified to be President. When you get down to it we practically rule the world. We wouldnt be such a rich nation if we didnt dominate the world like we do.

Christine Blasey Ford subjected herself to Lindsey Graham’s

histrionics and answered questions from a lawyer handpicked

to keep the GOP from getting its hands dirty, but tell me

more about poor maligned no-show William Barr.

Trump will be impeached, the question is when do the dems do it. My guess is when the election cycle is starting up. So if they build a strong case come 2020 more rep Senators are vulnerable. Because he'll never be convicted.

Impeachment ALWAYS makes the accused into something of a martyr. The Dems need to concentrate specifically on the good and positive things they're going to accomplish for the people and they almost can't get specific enough on the details of what Trump promised the people of those swing states as far as jobs, economics, etc., and then keep on those points/promises and stay positive. Again impeachment is kind of like (for the Dem base) the caravan thing was for the Repub base, the "true believers" get a great big woody for it but the rank and file voters will get tired of it and it will actually wind up having the opposite effect, which is of course what the Repubs are hoping for.

The Repubs must be at least a little bit worried though, I was switching channels last night and went by Fox and those people were practically hysterical about the Dems questioning the great and powerful Barr and "how dare they" and so on.
