    Braves IL Updates Thread

DOB ignored me on Twitter when I asked about him reporting O’Day would be reevaluated today and I asked Grant McAuley about it and he said and I quote “DOB had that I believe. Not sure“.

Manager Brian Snitker said Gohara (shoulder) is pitching at extended spring training, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

    ANALYSIS
Gohara has yet to pitch in a game as he continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury. The southpaw should be considered out indefinitely.

O'Day (forearm) will be reevaluated Tuesday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

    ANALYSIS
O'Day has been sidelined all season with forearm soreness, but he could be cleared to resume a throwing program if everything checks out OK on Tuesday.

(Forearm): O'Day has landed on the 10-day injured list due to forearm tightness. He suffered a setback during his rehabilitation, and there is no timetable for return. (Updated April 24, 2019)

    No timeline for return
    May 8, 2019
O'Day (forearm) remains without a clear timeline for a return from the 10-day injured list, though the Braves are optimistic he'll be reinstated at some point during the summer, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

    ANALYSIS
O'Day has been shut down all season after first experiencing soreness in his right forearm in early March. The 36-year-old has yet to even resume a throwing program since spring training concluded, so it appears safe to conclude that his absence will stretch into June. Once he proves he's healthy again, O'Day could have a key role waiting for him in the Atlanta bullpen.

    Plays catch
    May 14, 2019
O'Day (forearm) played catch Tuesday, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

    ANALYSIS
O'Day has been battling forearm soreness since early March. He resumed throwing late in March but was shut down within a week. It remains unclear when he's expected to return.

    Remains shut down
    May 28, 2019
Gohara continues to tend to left shoulder discomfort and is without a timetable to make his 2019 debut, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

    ANALYSIS
Gohara has been stuck at extended spring training since being optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on March 8, but it's not clear where he currently stands in his recovery program. While reports in late April suggested he had resumed throwing, no news has emerged regarding Gohara potentially moving on to facing hitters in simulated games or as part of a rehab assignment. Bowman suggested that Gohara might ultimately require exploratory surgery on the problematic shoulder, which would essentially render the 2019 campaign another lost season for the 22-year-old.

I don’t believe O’day and Gohora are actually real people.

Ender has a new injury ifweacivatehimwehavetostarthimitis

....it may take until the trade deadline to get that cleared up.

He's obviously been mostly left to himself to make decisions, but I've got a pretty good feeling that if Snit started playing Ender every day AA would quash that pretty quickly at this point.

A day here and there to give Acuna a rest, brought in late as a defensive replacement with Acuna sliding over, plugged in to run for one of the Catchers and left in as part of a double switch maybe.

I love Ender as much as anyone, but his usefulness as a regular has passed - and AA isn't likely to let Snitker botch that decision.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

DOB was asked about Gohara the other day and said it looked to be another lost year for him.

You say that as Nick keeps playing every.single.day.

Ender would be a great 4th outfielder, but that means one of our other guys get sent down, and this bench has performed very well. I would take Culberson or Joyce because they have proven they can perform in those roles. I’m not sure how Ender will hit of the bench AND it diminishes his trade value doing that.

I’m not sure we see Ender again, unless they are showcasing him to trade.

i'll say it again. this is exactly why, despite the "value" Markakis brought, i wasn't happy with re-signing him. forget looking for an external upgrade, the Braves have options *internally* who are probably better overall, definitely better vs. LHP, and Markakis simply will not be sat. our OF production upside is limited. if he's played this season like he has and still won't be sat more often, why should i believe they'll look at external options? why should i believe he'll be sat often vs LHP?

Gohara’s day as a starter is over imo. He could be a closer or high leverage setup guy if his shoulder lets up.

I have a feeling Gohara will never pitch for us again. Not that there’s going to be many suitors lining up to trade for him. I see him being let go in the off-season.
