Interesting you make a comparison of a person making a living wage with a 32 ounce soda

and view labor as a consumable

Labor is absolutely a commodity that is consumed within an economic system.

Those that do not understand this propose things like medicare for all or 'living wages'.

And, your thoughts on stemming the epidemic of diabetes we find ourselves ?

Everythings an epidemic these days. I dont ask the government to solve problems. They are the problem.

curious the means by which we as a people address public health situations should we not use the mechanism of government ?

a rather Marxian view on your part !

I see labor as a service and equal to capital as a participant in economic system
The commodity to my view is the product produced by labor and capital working in tandem

a 32 oz. soda would be a commodity. Labor and capital provided the service to produce the commodity.

The study, Economic Costs of Diabetes in the U.S. in 2017, was commissioned by the Association and addresses the increased financial burden, health resources used and lost productivity associated with diabetes in 2017. The study includes a detailed breakdown of costs along gender, racial and ethnic lines, and also includes a breakdown of costs on a state-by-state basis

numbers reveal perhaps as many as half million more deaths per year caused by diabetes than abortion.

Should we have to kick in a penny or two per soft drink to ease not only the addiction we have to soft drink but to go towards treatment of the effects of that soft drink
    as opposed to

the existential argument over taxation and all things government bad ---

funny, government is all bad until they impose regulations that align with our political / moral views.

Who was saying what about hypocrisy?
I offer inaction to guns (where more weapons have killed more children in schools than service people in combat since 9/11) and now the opposition to a tax to slow down diabetes.

Barking up the wrong tree on that one. I am Pro-Life but dont support forcing it on others. I have no desire to ever own a gun yet I support other peoples right to own a gun. You wouldnt be wrong about the average person though.

I cant solve the diabetes problem off the top of my head. What I do know is the tax wont help and the money wont be used for what they say it will. Its just a revenue generation scheme. Even if it did help I dont want to continue down that slippery slope. Many of the worst deeds in history were done with the best of intentions.

I dont doubt it would. I just doubt it will help the problem any meaningful way.

if you want to use the jargon correctly labor and capital are inputs and a can of soda is an output

When I lived in Iceland, I found a lump. I had no idea how to navigate finding a doctor, so I went to our show's production manager.

Me: I found a lump. Can you help me find a doctor?
PM: Just go to the cancer center.
Me: Okay. How do a get a referral?
    PM: What's a referral?

Critics who say “Medicare for All is bad because it’s a tax increase” expect you to not realize

you may pay a bit more in certain taxes in exchange for eliminating the way bigger

corporate-controlled taxes you already pay in the form of insurance premiums,

    co-pays & deductibles.

    " Corporate controlled taxes"

we should get used to hearing that

If my house is 10 feet under water we have a bigger issue than the role of government what with the 7 seals breaking.
