You have to remember that in the 1950s Mays played his home games in the Polo Grounds whose centerfield dimension was 455 feet. There's nothing close to that today.

And Andruw had both speed and instincts. That’s why he’s the GOAT.

Good point on the old ballparks. Polo Grounds were aptly named the Polo Grounds in that it was very long and narrow. Around 275 down the lines and 455 to dead center. Forbes Field was also a gigantic OF as was old Yankee Stadium.

Precisely. Guys like Gary Pettis, Otis Nixon, and Ken Griffey, Jr., were a shade below Andruw, but also had that great combination.

Or "that was close" on a FO to edge or mid track. Or "he hit that a ton" to mid track at deepest. Another one, "he just missed that" on FO to edge of track maybe.

I couldn't tell and, if replay evidence were admissible, I'd say it hit the batter's spike.

Despite the 2 homers, Folty has actually pitched a very good encouraging game.

That’s last AB by Riley is where the “bat speed” issues come from. Got started early on a breaking ball (even though he didn’t really go around) and was then beat by good MLB velocity.

We obviously can’t draw conclusions based off 1 K, but that’s the kind of thing to keep an eye on with Riley.

Not sure. Velocity back down last inning. Slider not moving.

Not horrible like before but not gausman level imo yet
