De Rosa Retires; turns 39(!) in Feb.

Mark De Rosa wasn't hurting for a job. Toronto had already exercised its $750K option for De Rosa in 2014. But he has not played in 100 games since 2010 and has hit under .200 in two of the last four seasons.

Dude is an Ivy Leaguer and came up with the Braves. He was a FA and left BEFORE th 2005 season. But he was a versatile fixture for four years.

I would hope to hell there's a place in the organization for this guy, anywhere from the booth to the front office and anything in between.

Was off by a decade; what often happens at 2 a.m. Thanks for being on top of it.

Watched him coming up with Richmond, and never thought that he'd be more than a part-timer, if he stuck. Couldn't have been more wrong!

Read a blurb somewhere that he has great on camera skills and people were lined up to grab him.

I remember some very long arguments re: DeRosa vs. Marcus Giles. Once the league started testing for Steroids, it became evident who the superior baseball player really was. For the record, I was always in the DeRosa camp on that argument.

Maybe so, but Giles sure was fun to watch play.
