It's funny because over the last few years there's always a point in the Dodgers season where they are playing middling baseball, and some genius asks, "what's wrong with the Dodgers?". Almost like they forget that franchise is the current model NL franchise, and actual experts had to remind them of that simple fact.
A few weeks ago when the Braves were struggling around .500, we had the same irrational comments flying around here. AA was a moron, Albies had to give up LHH, Donaldson was a waste of cash, anyone in AAA needed to come in to replace everyone in the lineup, every BP arm needed to be released, etc, etc.
Now? The Braves are awesome! Check back in 3 weeks though...
Interesting too to see a vocal but misinformed part of the fanbase mocking the importance of relentlessly pursing value and preserving financial flexibility. What AA is doing does require a lot of patience and discipline and it is not surprising to see the negative reaction and criticism from some quarters.

Lol - this article is so great
Phils GM Matt Klentak had a terrific offseason, adding J.T. Realmuto, Jean Segura, Bryce Harper (yeah, we’re still waiting . . . ) and Andrew McCutchen. It is not coincidental that the recent downturn coincides with McCutchen’s season-ending injury.
Give Klentak credit as well for stealing Jay Bruce from the Mariners for the cost of a bag of beans.
But right now, all of that means nothing. The Braves’ bright long-term future makes it more imperative that the Phillies aim to win this season. Klentak’s franchise is faltering and he needs to act immediately — not two weeks from now — to rescue it.

I fully support the Phillies making even more short sighted moves.

If the Phillies hit the panic button and start trading off more prospects in an attempt to fix their pitching, I'm all on board. In fact, trade for Bumgarner and another one of those guys and extend them to big money deals. Do it Philly. Its the only way to save your season, I promise.
Their best trade chips are Medina and Bohm, not sure they trade the 2nd one. Medina plus doesnt seem like it could net Bumgarner. While Braves have guys like Pache, Waters, Anderson, as well as Wright, Wilson, Muller among others. And Shea should be MLB ready in 1-2 years.
its 2019 or bust for the fillies

Rather the Fallies spend that "stupid money" and buy Greinke or Mike Leake.
word is ownership is leery of going over the luxury tax. which makes paying Harper all the more funny. as well as that terrific Arrieta contract.
i'll say again, imagine if they didn't get bailed out of that Carlos Santana contract. while i love he's having a much better season than last year, constructing that lineup, and the defense, would've been a mess if they were forced to keep him.
