Sounds like the Brewers are talking about Robbie Ray... would we want to try and get him if he's available? I still wonder if Greinke is a dark horse provided AZ kicks in a chunk of change.

Arizona is 1 game out of the WC and has a +50 RD. I guess I understand them thinking they can't win it all with this team, but damn, why sell? I'd be pissed as a zona fan

Outside of us, the Dodgers, and Miami, almost every team in the National League is going to be making some really tough decisions in the next couple of weeks. Given the ostensible lack of sellers and the amount of teams in contention, that should create a pretty substantial seller's market. So if a team decides to sell it could probably get a substantial return. But at the same time, they are all right in the middle of contention so they'll be reluctant to sell.

As I see it the Mets, Pirates, Reds, and Giants should be easy sellers, even though I doubt that the Mets/Pirates/Reds will be. They aren't doing anything this year and they have assets to sell that could really help them out long term. The Brewers, Cardinals, Cubs, Phillies, and Nats should all be buyers. These are the teams that I think are the true WC contenders and/or Central division contenders. I think the Rockies, D'backs, and Padres could go either way. I lean sell because I don't think they are talented enough to truly compete for a WC spot or a World Series, but its close. I think they're organizations would be better off long term as sellers.

The Cards have made closer Carlos Martínez available in trade talks. This is intriguing because he used to be a starter and has been pitching multiple innings for saves at times since Jordan Hicks was injured.

I'd be very interested in Carlos Martinez. And Marcell if they're actually selling.

The Cards are tied for a WC spot so them selling would be strange

Talk about a massive package for a player. We'd have to trade AA's firstborn

A lot of these teams are just kicking the tires and sending out feelers. It’s hard to join in the party late like the Nats tried to do last season and expect to get anything significant done.

I think this deadline will be a dud overall. We’ll end up with something, but there’s not many teams selling and the ones that are will want the moon or don’t have much of significance to sell.

Another guy on a Braves forum is apparently connected to a scout.

“The 4 main players the Blue Jays are scouting in a Stroman-Giles deal according to the scout are Waters, De La Cruz, Tucker Davidson, and Muller, also are interested in Justin Dean” is what he said.
If I were AA i'd tell them to kick rocks and hang up the phone immediately.

This deadline actually shapes up best for a team like the Braves and Dodgers. There are very few teams that don’t have glaring holes to fill and even less that have the depth to fill them. The Braves can do nothing and still be a .600 win team.

Heard he is working with Glaus to emulate his swing.

I worry they are too close to the WC and are kidding themselves.
