Mets best prospects are hitters, if all it cost was filler, AA missed out.

If they got stroman for nothing, the Mets aren't idiots (in this deal anyway)

Just when you think you have the trade deadline pinned down to a handful of potential moves, a non contender buys a win now piece at half price haha.

Rosenthal- In talks with at least one team on Syndergaard, #Mets only were seeking major-league talent that could help right away, sources tell The Athletic. Team is currently six games out in NL wild card race, trailing five teams.

The highest paid player on their roster is Justin Smoak who is making 8 million this year. Unless they are figuring out a way to dump some of the salary they still owe Tulo or Russell Martin.

Woods-Richardson looks like he should be higher than a 45 FV. He was taken early in the second round last year (#48 overall). Very young for draft class. Turned 18 in late September. Has dominated class A as an 18 year old (2.28 xFIP). I now like this trade for the Blue Jays. He's got pretty good pedigree. Some success in full season ball at age 18. I suspect he will soon crack some of the Top 100 lists.

Something feels off here. How do we still not know any piece of the return?

Could we turn this to our advantage by sending them Gausman or Teheran? Or Folty? Or even Fried?

    .

    Van Wegenen is the best.

If he thinks they have a chance for wild card he should have replaced Callaway long ago.

    WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!?!

So the Met's rationale here is... trade for Stroman using whatever it is they used. Then trade Syndergaard, not for prospects to replenish what they lost in the Stroman deal, but for MLB pieces that can help them compete immediately. Except they are currently completely out of contention for all realistic intents and purposes.

I just don't understand this franchise.

Even if it is just their pitching prospects and they get relatively good value, its not exactly the brightest move in the world. They aren't going to compete this year, so they are buying basically one year of Stroman while planning to sell Syndergaard for MLB pieces.

I still feel fairly comfortable calling them idiots.

Stroman is from NY, i could see him stay there and sign an extension. But it is a rather odd move.

Blue Jays aren't willing to confirm Stroman trade. PR directed media to look at Twitter reports. Clubhouse was closed and we were told "there's a reason it's closed". Truly odd scene in general.

    He’s mad.

Anthony Kay and Simien Woods is all it took.

4 and 6 from the Mets system, dont know enough about them but seems like an underwhelming return.

That seems stupid light. There is no way that is all it took. Come on Blue Jays, what the hell?

We didn’t offer better? I would have easily traded Wright for him. Wentz. Muller. One guy who is better haha

Its a good return. Although he hasn't cracked a Top 100 list, Woods-Richardson should be higher than a 45 FV. The Jays did well.

With respect to the Braves, I suggested a couple days ago Wright for Stroman. I think that would have topped what the Mets are sending their way. I'm not sure Muller or Wentz tops what they're getting.
