Rosenthal says our talks with Toronto have been about -- Joe Biagini. Yay.

I have no problem adding Biagini as long as he's cheap and just one of a couple relievers added. If he's our biggest add it would be very disappointing. However, I doubt that's likely.

Sure does make it seem like all those people reporting that they have no problem trading with AA have got it wrong.

If THAT'S the level he's shopping on - and trades for someone like that - he's not nearly as smart as we think he is. Just keep the prospects and use SPs from Gwinnett in the pen for crying out loud.

If we trade for Biagini, we also get a philosopher.

Pretty sure he said in additions to Giles and Hudson, we’ve also been taking Biagini

I hope the trade deadline doesn’t end up a dud for us. We are so close to be really dangerous.

Not sure where else to put this, but good news in our bullpen search -- Jacob Webb added to the GCL roster this morning, so his rehab is getting started.

Biagini has been tough on righties this year. Of all pitchers in baseball with at least 29 innings against righties (the amount that Joe has) his 2.68 FIP against them is 14th best. Seems to be a pretty decent target depending on cost and if he's used correctly.

He's due for some regression but he's still been very very good for us this year.

AA works in silence so it's hard to know who they're even going after. Everyones just guessing.

Not even Bowman/DOB/Gabe seem to know who they're in on, just throwing names at a wall and hoping one sticks.

Regarding Biagni, he's under control for 3 more years after this one but i hope he'd just be a middle relief option.

Rarely would many people do any of his proposed deals, but some of Bowden's stuff is sometimes worth talking through when things are so slow.

On the XM show yesterday morning, he mentioned (no sources, just his thought) that we just match up too well with the Tigers that he thinks it would be relatively easy for AA to look at Detroit as a one-stop shop. That we could use all secondary pieces and put together a package good enough for Boyd, Greene, and Castellanos that would probably be better than the return they can get for them if they sell them separately.

It's at least a little interesting to think about. Say we sent them Wilson, Touki, Wentz, and Demeritte. Next season is the last year they're stuck with Zimmerman's contract, so (after gaming clocks) they'd be looking at Mize, Wilson, Norris, Touki, and Matt Manning as 2020 rotation options with Wentz and Skubal not far behind that. Demeritte would be an option for them right away at 2B, 3B, or LF if Stewart's capable of handling RF.

If Boyd actually is available, are they going to do better trying to split those three up considering what the Jays got for Stroman and the RPs have fetched so far?

Just what AA needs to hand Snit - he obviously knows how to handle those types.

Chris Martin with the Rangers is a name that didn't surface when I was looking at this stuff last month, but seems like a worthy target as the second BP acquisition. believe he's expiring contract with great K/BB rate.

Amir Garrett is a good LH option. Maybe Chafin with Ari.

Lance Lynn would be a good target if we decided to go for a starter.

We need a SP bad, much more than RP, although we do need both of course.

I'm thinking if we got a SP we could move Gausman to the pen, where presumably his stuff would play up, or include him as part of the trade.

Unless we are getting a 2/3 type SP, I’d much rather focus on the BP and just use our farm for the 4/5 starter.
I like Lynn but how much of an upgrade would he be over Julio/Fried in a playoff series compared to what it costs to get him?
For me it’s Bauer/Thor/Wheeler or bust.
I’d be all for getting 2 solid BP arms to help shorten the game and be able to play matchups more freely.
