Since SP prices seem to be well beyond what teams are comfortable with, may be the off-set to that plan is to try and shrink the game with an elite BP.

Only one that I think was in a tough situation was Farhan Zaidi of the Giants. Bochy's last year. Yeah it should have been a no-brainer to sell off everything, but Bochy delivered 3 WS for that Franchise and the fanbase still sells out almost every game despite them being awful the last few years.
