    Only Allard and Soroka pitched as 18 year olds in Low A. And Woods-Richardson has put up better numbers than them. Age when drafted. Age for level. Those are very important considerations when looking at prospects. We have gotten a little spoiled with some of our recent prodigies. But when an 18-year old does very well in Full Season A ball, that is a very good sign. See Soroka, Albies and Acuna. It is not a guarantee (see Allard). But it is a very good sign. An 18 year old dominating at that level has a much better chance of success than a 19 year old dominating at that level.

    You could argue it’s a fair package, most deals this time of year are overpays. This was not near that. At best a fair deal, and no real reason for the Bluejays to take this deal early.

    Buster Olney just noted that the Mets just traded for a groundball machine while they have the worst infield defense in baseball lol.

    Just have to think the "good" thing about the whole mess is that AA may now be able to get Giles for "close to ready" secondary prospects.

    Now that they've called Bichette up, how happy would they be to add a Wilson/Touki-type to go along with Pearson, Kay. Woods-Richardson, Manoah, Pardinho group?
    Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

    Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

    Sorta deceiving about the age, eh?

    Wilson = 2016 draft, A ball in 2017
    Wentz = 2016 draft, A ball in 2017
    Allard = 2015 draft, A ball in 2016
    Soroka = 2015 draft, A ball in 2016
    Woods- Richardson = 2018 draft, A ball in 2019

    I consider that all same path

    I hope this isn’t a marlins situation.
    They wouldn’t come off Acuna and took Brinson. I hope it wasn’t a deal we lost out on bc they wanted the top two pitching prospects.

    Nope. Not the same path at all. There is a body of research showing that being drafted at age 17 in and of itself is a statistically significant indicator of future success. So even though you might have two players drafted the same year and seemingly on the same path, it matters quite a bit if one is a bit younger.

    Same works the other direction. HS players drafted at age 19 tend to be poor bets. They too appear to be on the same path. But they aren't.

    The Stroman deal to the #Mets means the #Yankees weren’t going to part with Deivi Garcia and the #Braves weren’t really in the deal at all. Braves could have beaten the package if they wanted too and still have had plenty left to get a closer and outfielder

    Anothrr positive of this deal for the mets is that they took one of the coveted starters off the market which may increase Noahs valur slightly.

    How coveted was Stroman really? Doesn’t seem like he was.

    Padres-Mets have talked extensively about Syndergaard, and Manuel Margot has been a part of that. Mets need up-the-middle help

    Someone said Yankees didnt part with Garcia, and yeah Braves could have included any 2-3 of Wilson, Allard, Wright, Muller, Wentz, etc if there was no bad blood with AA.

    That's how urban legends get started. "Someone said."

    I actually think this is all mandated by Mets extremely dumb ownership. They hired Brodie because he promised no rebuild. They are trying to only get major league ready parts for Thor. And they traded for a starter even though they're not competing. Makes sense for next year but they aren't that good as a team!
