Why not play the bench in key spots?

Trying to put our foot on the throat maybe?

Today is not the day to play the bench. It’s been clear both games the Gnats have overextended themselves just trying to get back in the race. A win today for us would be huge going forward and we have our best pitcher going up against a AAA scrub. Gotta go for the kill here.

I'm not as mad that some regulars arent getting rested simply because we had a day off Thursday.

Its June 23rd, less than halfway through the season, and over a month from the trade deadline. No killing blow will be made today. It is absurd to suggest it.

Claiming the Nats made a mistake by overextending themselves one sentence after claiming the Braves should not use the depth of their bench to rest guys in a day game after a night game is hypocritical.

This was the perfect opportunity to rest a few guys. The plan was to keep guys fresh, not rest them after they wear down.

Normally I’d agree with you and if we were only a game or 2 apart I’d agree with you but living here in VA I can tell you the Gnats have been taking this series very seriously and if doesn’t look like things can turn around they may begin selling off pieces. They don’t want to make the same mistake with Rendon that they did with Harper and the clock is ticking on making that decision. If we can make the Gnats feel like they don’t have a chance to claw back they will sell eliminating our toughest competition in the division. And I’m totally for resting our guys. Just not today.

A win today will have the Braves well over 75% to win the division. Phillies have really fallen off.

With Lester going tomorrow for the Cubs we’ll have a great opportunity to give our lefties the day off.

Then rest some righties today. I don’t care if played A is worse than the guy he is replacing. The point is to rest guys. Sharpie snit is doing horribly at that and I don’t think understands the point.

Normally resting the starters is a bad thing because teams have replacement level players on the bench. That is not the case with this team. The bench is a strength and playing them will increase the teams win total not only because of their individual production but the added value of keeping the big boys rested.

I just don't get todays lineup at all.

The backups are good enough for us to do that anyway.

The division is trash and we are head and shoulders above anyone in terms of mlb and full organizational talent/competency.

I fully expect Freeman to set the RBI record for consecutive games today.

Again, there will be no kill shot dealt in June.

If you want to support an absurd narrative, how about saying “imagine how demoralizing it will be when the bench players beat the Nats”.
