Will be fun to watch, but I’m not stoked about this at all.

As Snowman astutely pointed out though, the “post HR derby slump” isn’t exactly founded in rigorous analysis.

For me it is the non rest. Not that one event is a big deal. But all the meetings and other commitments that go along with the hoopla. I would prefer none of our guys were even in the game.

Other than coincidence it doesn’t make any sense that the derby effects power the second half. Harper just isn’t that good

Swinging like that for a while could definitely cause you to get into some bad habits. Not sure that’s such a stretch.

Fifteen years ago, Bobby Abreu, a Venezuelan, hit 37 HRs prior to participating in the home run derby and two after. I think it's safe to say all the markers are there and Acuña will suffer the same fate.


Edit: It was fourteen years ago and it was 18 before, six after. But the Venezuelan thing....well, Acuña is screwed.
