    2019 Futures Game Thread

Anderson looks like he has a lot of command on his fastball plus a little late sink.

Is there statcast data for this game?

Looks like Anderson has a different motion on his curve. Hard to tell. Looked good though.

    Results good for Anderson.

I thought his motions looked really herky jerky.

Spiked most of his off speed stuff.

Hit his spots with the fastball. Wasn’t afraid to pitch inside. Easy velocity.

What’s the general consensus these days on Anderson?

Not a stat cast darling, but seems to get a lot of Ks.

Pache got beat by a pitcher painting the outside corner twice.

You can look at his frame and see why people projected power. He is built powerfully.

Can the braves find room for him next year? Will he be ready? Do you want him up at 21? Are you going to be ok when he is a 750 ops? I still don’t think Robles has a better track record. Pache looks like he has a frame to be significantly bigger.

I think the most likely outcome is we keep Ender for another season, sign a corner OF to replace Nick (or resign Donaldson to 1yr deal) and Pache debuts if we have an injury or Ender struggles.

Not that it matters but the 2 strike pitch was outside.

There was talk of him having a low spin rate on his curve so there are concerns that it won't play up in the big leagues.

The origin of that information is mysterious. It was dropped in as off hand comment in a fangraphs chat.

I’m ready to see his stuff. Wish I’d known to record or whatever today.

Agreed - I refuse to believe that someone can be so difficult to hit while striking out of 11 per 9 innings and not have plus stuff.

Leading AA in Ks suggest a certain degree of stuff, but sometimes it doesn’t translate.

One thing with Anderson is that he’s basically never struggled and has always struck a lot of guys out. Dunno. We’ll find out eventually.

I’m not even sure what he throws. Seems like his fastball is described as a heavy ball with a lot of sink, which fits with the spin profile, but doesn’t ever seem to be described as a two seamer.

I would drown in my own semen if Pache came up and put up a .750 OPS in his rookie season.

The other part of the Anderson velocity questions is he’s still only 21. He’s listed at 6-3, 170. It’s not difficult to imagine him adding more bulk and that fastball ticking up even more.

He’s never been one to generate a high ground ball rate either though which lends credence to the idea that he has a low spin rate.

I read somewhere that Anderson's change has passed his curve.

Ultimately, like so many young pitchers, it's his control will determine how good he'll be. Gotta reduce the BBs.

Was Trammell the guy we targeted overslot but was snatched before our pick so we settled for Wentz?
