    Mike Trout

Can we all stop for a second and realize just how good he is? Cody Bellinger is having an all-timer type season, just absolutely raking at almost unfathomable levels...and Trout has posted an fWAR 0.5 higher despite a BABIP 60 points below his career average.

And he used to have a below-average arm that is now above-average. What the.
"Acuna is getting lucky, just like CJ did when he batted .321 and won a batting title. He is unlikely to get lucky at the MLB level over an extended period of time. He will settle in around .300-.320 just like everyone else, and when he does, he won't be within shouting distance of the 1.000 OPS he is posting in AAA...more like low .700s in 2018." -Enscheff 8/25/17

Trout is a top-5 all-time player. we'll likely never see a player so consistently, thoroughly dominant in our lifetimes.

I assume bonds. Looking at Barry's stats, one of the most amazing to me is he played 22 seasons and his 3rd year was the last time he K'd more than he walked.

Roids. Everything from age 34 and on is irrelevant to me.

Do stats Bonds put up against Clemens count since both were roided out of their gourds?

What about the stats he put up vs all the other roided pitchers? Do we just negate the stats he put up vs clean pitchers?

If you can provide me a list, I will get to work recalculating his stats against only roided out pitchers.

Oh, then be sure to tell me how players don't currently have roid regimens that have the substance out of their systems in time for daily random tests.

    Thanks!

I mean you could I guess. But considering his stats after his 33rd bday were considerably better than this #'s before, I'd say he certainly benefited more than others.

I'm pretty sure he just meant Trout.

I suppose this depends on how old you are?

My dad was born in 44 and grew up listening to Mays and Aaron. He doesn't watch anymore but has has been around long enough to see the 2nd half of Williams career, plus Mays, Bonds, Aaron and around the 1st half of Trouts. I would suspect the game will see another monster player within the next 30-40 years.

Ahh, so now steroids react differently with Bonds' muscles than they did with other players, and for that, his stats should be discounted.

Can we get a list of players who used steroids, but they didn't work well enough with their particular physiology to discount their stats?

Now we need to separate players into several categories:

    1. clean players
    2. roided players where the roids didn't work
    3. roided players where the roids did work

Do Bonds' stats against roided players who didn't benefit from the roids count? Or are those stats discounted too?

Discuss steroid usage in private please.

This thread is strictly about the American Acuña.

No, I meant Bonds. He didn’t say “We will never see this again.” I was pointing out that Bonds was better.

Trout has actually better up to this point on their respective careers, but the difference is Trout isn’t going to have to God-like uptick once he reaches his mid-30’s.

Not exactly breaking new ground, but Bonds on PEDs is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

I'm fine with him not being in the Hall of Fame, but he's undoubtedly the best player I've seen play. I always have had more sympathy for him than for McGwire and Sosa and other one trick ponies. He was the best player in baseball and a bunch of mediocrities suddenly sucked the air out of his star bubble. He used to get it back. And man alive, that was something.
