I have already. I am not sweating his BP numbers. He has crazy stuff that probably hard to control without regular reps. I expect good touki numbers as a starter.

    FYI:
Drew Lugbauer began July hitting six home runs in his first 9 games. But until he woke up with a double and triple with an RBI Wednesday night, he followed that by going 1-for-31, with the only hit being a single, and no RBIs in nine games. Average was down to .172. Has 130 strikeouts in 92 games.

Fangraphs explanations for four Braves guys they've moved up -

    Tucker Davidson, LHP, Atlanta Braves:
Atlanta has taken the reigns off Davidson, who is holding his stuff deeper into games than ever before. We’ve grown more confident in his chances of starting.

    Braden Shewmake, SS, Atlanta Braves:
This situation is similar to Small’s, where post-draft talks indicate Shewmake is just a better defender than what we saw pre-draft.

Jasseel De La Cruz, RHP, Atlanta Braves & Alexander Vizcaino, RHP, New York Yankees:
Both present a surface-level relief look with long, violent arm actions, but they’ve each thrown a surprising number of strikes this year and have huge stuff, including swing-and-miss fastballs.

this is why one should perhaps watch games before spouting off definitive judgements, a radical idea i've come to learn.

    Facts.
You don’t throw away a kid with that many quality pitches who just needs a slight uptick in control.
    He’s still only 23.

Shewmake is 6-4, 190. He was drafted with the express desire that he put on weight in the belief that will add power. Wait until he fills out and then re-evaluate his defense.

I'm still not very fond of the Langeliers pick, but I'm starting to warm up to the Shewmake pick to some degree. Or at least I am starting to understand the FO's rationalization behind it.

I understand it. It's a very Dodgers type of pick. The super utility player that can hit while playing all over the field. It definitely has value. I really think Shewmake has a chance to be a guy who hits about .280 with 15 HRs a year while playing 5 or 6 different positions.

I just thought he was a reach at 21, especially after going fairly conservative with Langeliers. But he's a Brave now and I hope he explodes into a beast. He's got the hit tool. Hopefully the power develops.

Signing a big FA starter should be the plan. All of our position talent is young aNd under control.
