I hope the young padawans remember this day when we meet the Rays in the 2028 WS.

    A couple things to note:

Plenty of Braves fans in attendance.

I’m sitting two rows behind Braves employees. I don’t know what they do. Also, I see four scouts here, but I don’t know who from. I think one of the backpacks had a Rockies tag on it.

Shaky first inning for Wentz. Allowed two runs, including a homer by the Angels top prospect Jo Adell. Allowed another on a wild pitch

Two more runs in the third given up by Wentz, though to be fair, the second baseman misjudged a blooper. He catches that, no runs score

Minor league defenses can be brutal. I remember I think it was Peraza who supposedly had throwing problems because he had a lot of throwing errors but it was largely because the 1B was a brutal defender. A quality 1B would have prevented most of those errors.

Pache with an RBI single in the 4th. Drew Waters was robbed of a hit. Ray Patrick Didder has singled twice and has a stolen base, HBP and two runs scored

Just got home. A few thoughts

Pache 1-4 with the RBI single, but there strikeouts. Liked his defense. Very smooth in centerfield.

Waters went 1-4 with an infield hit and was robbed of A hit by the Mobile second baseman. I also liked his defense.

Contreras had a hit. His defense was a bit shaky. Needs some work.

Ray Patrick Didder had a good night. A couple hits, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a couple runs. Pleased with him tonight.

Pitching stunk overall. Wentz has good stuff, but just didn't have it. Several hard hit balls. Will say his pitching motion kind of reminds me of Alex Wood.

On another note, the team in Mobile is relocating after this season. After 23 years, the BayBears are leaving for Madison, AL and becoming the Rocket City Trash Pandas. I kid you not. In all likelihood, this was my final BayBears game to attend. I got to thinking about who I had seen play. Here are some notable players I've seen play here:

Rafael Furcal (rehab assignment in his rookie year)
    Marcus Giles
    Justin Upton
Evan Longoria (in the same game as Upton)
    Jordan Schafer
    Ender Inciarte
    Luiz Gohara
    Sean Newcombe
    Johan Camargo
    Archie Bradley
    Nick Ahmed
    Dansby Swanson
    Ozzie Albies
    Ronald Acuña Jr.

Why are they moving? BayBears have been in Mobile since I was a kid in Pensacola—long before the latter got the Wahoos. I remember seeing games there during elementary school, back in the 90s, when they were a Padres affiliate.

Edit: Fun to see former Brave Sal Fasano manages the team, who counts fellow former-Brave Buddy Carlyle amongst their Hall of Fame.

Mainly attendance. Last few years, attendance has been pathetic. Plus, Hank Aaron Stadium is the oldest in the Southern League now. Pretty pitiful for a city with so much baseball history connected to it.

The stadium was kinda built in swampland, with all the accompanying environment.

Yep. But now, there are plans for a soccer complex across I-65 from the ballpark
