    Smart GMs obviously know this, but the pressure to win now while they have a job outweighs the consequences 5+ years from now when they could very well be out of a job anyways.
    Obviously team payroll plays a large part in that as well. If you're the Yanks or BoSox or Dodgers and you believe that money will probably get you an ace for 3 years, you don't mind ****ting away the money in years 4 and 5. You can afford it.
