I would ask Mac to come back for another year, and then just platoon him with Jackson.

Jackson surely couldn't be that much worse defensively or offensively than flowers. Saving that 6 million probably also went into AA's mindset for Melancon perhaps.

I have no idea. His hitting has been horrible lately so he's likely declined overall.
