    6 philly cops shot

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/14/us/ph...-st=1565828035

Last I heard it was 3. Now its 6 and 2 supposedly "trapped". Police were apparently called because of "drug activity". Probably people conducting consensual business and the cops showed up to a peaceful situation and escalated to violence. This isnt caused by the drugs. This is caused by the prohibition of drugs. The cops should never have been involved. 6 officers wouldn't be shot. Someone wouldn't be about to die or go to prison for the rest of their lives. Despite all this cops will double down on the policy that got these cops shot. Why should Ibcare about these peoples lives when they actively lobby for these situations to happen.

And I bet these cops use this to attack the DA who has done meaningful criminal justice reform in the city. He was elected by the people of the city running on that platform. It's what the people asked for. Cops are going to make this a political situation. Just watch.

I’d be willing to bet, there’s a lot more to this story than a few regular guys making a simple drug deal.

Maybe there is. Probably would still have been avoidable if they could buy their drugs at 7/11.

Looks like this is still active. Always irks me when the police say they shooter could end this peacefully. So could the police. No one was shooting before you arrived.

I'm going to tentatively give some benefit of the doubt on this one. If one report I saw was true, I can't blame them overmuch in this particular instance. That report was one cop showed up to serve a warrant, dude shot him, barricaded himself in the house, and a standoff ensued. As always, though, there's a strong chance it won't be true, either because of overly hasty, bad reporting, or just official lying.

That sounds logical. Dude was probably looking at some long years and he didn’t want to do them.

So thus far, it appears that early report was maybe half correct, but with two cops serving the warrant instead of one, and I have no idea now if one of them got shot.

The shooting began when authorities attempted to serve a warrant at about 4:30 p.m. ET
Officers were in different parts of the house when the shooting began, Ross said, adding that's how two officers and three others got trapped in the house.
All five were evacuated by SWAT officers after nightfall, Ross said.
SWAT officers used "stealth to do it," and it's believed they did it without the shooter knowing they were in the house, Ross said.
"We've gone from a hostage situation to a barricade because all of the hostages were taken out safely, " he said.
I guess the three others were regular folks trapped in there, possibly family?

Hill’s history in the adult criminal justice system began in 2001 when he was 18 and was arrested with a gun that had an altered serial number.
Public records show that he has been arrested about a dozen times since turning 18, and convicted six times on charges that involved illegal possession of guns, drug dealing, and aggravated assault. He has been in and out of prison; the longest sentence handed him came in 2010, when a federal judge gave him a 55-month term.

And, his record would indicate, he does not like to go to prison. In 2008, he was convicted of escaping, fleeing from police, and resisting arrest. Along the way, he beat criminal charges on everything from kidnapping to attempted murder.
Hill also spent time in federal prison. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations after he was caught with a Smith & Wesson .357 and later a Taurus PT .45 semiautomatic. His prior felony convictions should have barred him from owning those weapons. U.S. District Judge Paul S. Diamond sentenced him to four years and seven months in prison.
More recently, Hill was convicted of perjury in 2013 and sentenced to seven years of probation. He appeared before Common Pleas Court Judge Rayford Means for three different alleged violations of probation — at least two of them related to new cases, which he later beat.
In one of those cases, Philadelphia police arrested Hill in May 2014, after spotting him driving an unregistered scooter. But when officers tried to stop him, he raced down an alleyway against traffic on a one-way street and then onto a sidewalk, sending pedestrians scattering, court records say. Hill crashed the scooter and then fled on foot but was apprehended. He was charged with driving without a license, recklessly endangering another person, and fleeing police, but later was acquitted on all counts.
Philadelphia police arrested Hill again in October 2014 on charges of drug possession and false imprisonment.
According to court filings, his accuser told police she had agreed to sell marijuana for Hill but then later changed her mind. When he summoned her to his house on the 6900 block of Greenway Street in Southwest Philadelphia days later, she says, she overheard Hill and an associate discussing killing her. Fearful for her life, the woman said, she called 911. When officers arrived, she fled as Hill and his associate hid the crack cocaine and marijuana in a tire out back. Investigators discovered 83 grams of marijuana.

Just as I predicted. Nothing more to this story than a simple deal

Disgusting videos of onlookers harassing cops doing their job. Who the hell would want to be an officer in todays society?

And here is a Trump appointed prosecutor taking shots at the elected DA of Philly for a "culture of disrespect" that led to these 6 cops being shot. This comes 1 day after the shootings. Keep that in mind. The "too soon" time for politicizing shootings is about 20 hours.

This is the best you got?

It wasn't about the shooting mostly but more about the crowds hassling the cops and throwing **** at them.

The DA actually helped resolve the situation. The shooter called his former lawyer who got in touch with the DA. The shooter was willing to come out but was scared that police were going to murder him. They got the police commissioner in on the call and were able to negotiate him to come out without anyone else getting hurt. No chance it goes down like that if the DA was a well know piece of **** like many DA's are.

The shooter was also a federal snitch given a lot of time off for "cooperating". You know, because a murderous thug is a credible witness when they say what police want to hear.
