Maybe Ortega will be our Max Muncy until Waters and Pache are ready. He is out of options but it’s a good problem to have to perhaps upgrade another position in a trade later on (maybe next season) involving him, he’s come up smoking the cover off of the baseballs for sure.

Very! And they're doing this all without their Ace. Would hate to see the in a short series with a healthy Scherzer.

Adeiny Hechavarría success this series vs the Dodgers isn't new, as he had a 3 hit game vs them when hot with the Mets and another two hit 2 RBI game that same series. But the bad news is that he went hitless in three games against his old Marlins team before the Mets released him. And that is who we play next. Hopefully he doesn't go cold against the Marlins this time.

4.5 games as of yesterday compared to 8 games 2 weeks ago. Inching closer indeed.

I’m glad to have the lead that we have, but at this moment I think the Nats are the stronger team.

It's been at 4.5 to 6.5 for awhile, it hasnt been at 8 but they are inching closer. Gonna need one hot streak and the Nats to skid a bit to feel comfortable, they are playing well now.

i mean i doubt he magically hits better against the Dodgers than Miami. it’s just small samples. he’ll probably go cold because he’s a bad hitter. like really bad.

Just upset we are conceding this game.

I know it's not over yet but taking arguably your best player out in an already hamstrung lineup does not bode well.
But not taking him out sends the message that his behavior is above reproach because he's too good and too valuable. Good on Snit for pulling him. And good on the team for not quitting.

Take a look at the Nats September Schedule, it's pretty brutal. 5 vs Phils, 7 vs Braves, 3 vs Mets, 3 vs Cardinals, 3 vs Indians, 3 vs Twins. Their only easy matchup is 4 vs Marlins.

Yes, they've been without Scherzer. But Fedde and Ross have more than been holding their own for a few weeks now in his place.

He does seem to hit a few Dodgers pitchers better than he hits others, but he is still usually an all glove no bat player most games regardless the team faced. Hopefully he can stay hot with us either way.

His magic vs the Dodgers could be umps helping him out missing strike three calls before his doubles, lol.

Fedde and Ross have been really hot, Fedde wasn't today but who cares when you have a 15 run lead.

And our schedule lightens up noticeably into early September with the Mets being the only team we play who is over .500

I hope Snit took a slow stroll through the clubhouse tonight to admire his work.

Nats are slightly better on paper due to their rotation. Luckily we have built up a good lead and have an easier schedule the rest of the way.

Pitching is coming around some now with Folty righting the ship and the BP luck improving. Just need to keep it up a few more weeks and then we start getting guys back from injury. Agreed - we're in a good spot

If you get a chance, read the LA Times account of this game. Basically said the Dodgers have the postseason wrapped up via an 18.5 game lead in the division and treated this series pretty much like spring training.

Maybe next time we play them, we can change their tune.

I know people get caught up in the moment and Max was awful the first inning but good lord on the amount of posts saying he wasn’t even a top 4 pitcher on this team haha..
    Putting Folty ahead of him...smh.
Great gut check performance from that kid today and great series win.
Hopefully we get healthy by the end of the month and get hot at the right time for once.
