We definitely need to practice the opener idea bc i want fried to follow a rhp against dodgers in playoffs. The 1st inning vs dodgers for fried has been a disaster. Hopefully he figured it out yesterday though

Freddie 0-12 this series. i don't think he should play against the Dodgers anymore. doesn't hit them well at all.

They didn’t want to go on record apparently, but all agreed with Snitker.
Fred definitely lead by example this series wth his 0-12

Some of those fastballs down and in to Bellinger. Particularly the one he got a swing and miss on in his first st bat had some sink and run. He’s also thrown some with some cut recently. Whether purposely or not. May be the beginning of something or may not.

You sir, are correct. I wasn't watching the game closely at all, but here's the data from that start:

    https://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxg.a...8&dh=0&data=pi

Look at the SIs with 5"-10" of horizontal movement. From what I can remember, those are the first SIs picked up for Fried by Statcast this year. That's a 93 MPH SI with lots of arm side run, but very little sink.

Were those SIs, or were they FAs that moved arm side a lot for some reason? Is Fried consciously adding a SI?

Regardless of outcome, I think Fried is my favorite pitcher to watch. I love a guy who will just go up there throwing curves as his primary pitch. It's so weird!

Getting movement on pitches is a skill. Its the knowledge and ability to execute grip pressure on different areas of the ball with different parts of your hand. This was a natrual progression for Fried as he always generated movement.

    dafuq...?

Just quit while your broken clock predictions were finally right for once. You have no idea how to throw breaking balls, and you have no clue how MLB pitchers progress...much less what's "natrual".

Are you saying movement/spin isnt generated because of grip pressure?

Jesus man. You are clueless. You’re also the fool who tried to argue with me over constant magus force on a pitch the moment it leaves the pitchers hand, and showed your complete ignorance of simple physics then too.

Movement is created by spin rate and axis. There are several ways to impact spin on the ball from arm angle, to wrist/hand manipulation, to finger location, to pressure from various fingers.

Nothing about Fried suggested he was any more likely to add a slider than any other high spin rate pitcher. You didn’t call for him to add the pitch before he started throwing it, so stop trying to act like you have any idea about how likely it was for him to pick it up now that he has.

You claim every single Braves player is going to be awesome. Fried looks like he is becoming awesome, so your broken clock act might finally be right. Just be glad about it and stop trying to play yourself off as anyone who knows anything about anything other than shaking pompoms.
