Looks like Snit is finally going to use the correct platoon match ups in the OF, so the FO member who read this board and then chewed out Snit did a good job.

The question I have is whether or not Hech is really better than Culberson at SS?

Snit said that he doesn’t want to play Culberson everyday because he’s afraid he’ll go into a slump. This is the type of intellect we’re dealing with here.

When you realize the Braves OF is...

vs RHP: Acuna, Joyce, Ortega (hopefully replaced by Inciarte and/or Markakis in September)
vs LHP: Acuna, Duvall, Culberson (no replacements in sight other than perhaps Pache)

It really makes you wonder how in the world the Braves let the deadline pass without acquiring a RHH OFer.

As a fellow Dallas, I'd totally bring a fish smoker to a party so this headline is $$$.

I’m guessing Texas wanted too much for Pence (who’s been DHing a lot anyways), and otherwise Anthopoulos didn’t see many other viable options out there. It’s unfortunate it took Demeritte to acquire Greene, as he would’ve been a solid internal option.

Yeah TD has done well in Detroit so far, though a 32.8% K rate combined with a .419 BABIP doesn't bode well for sustained success.

Castellanos would look great in this lineup. Cubs didn't even have to give up much to get him. Wonder if salary was prohibitive

Except for Joyce, the group of guys playing the outfield at the moment are all pretty good defenders. I suspect the defensive work of Pence and Castellanos made the FO think twice about those two.

Pence has been average or slightly below in the OF for many years except for last year. Castellanos has been Kemp-bad in the OF for several seasons. Lumping those 2 guys together in terms of OF defense is not close to accurate.

The Braves were fine with running Camargo and Riley in the OF sight unseen. While Riley performed much better in LF than almost anyone could have hoped, Camargo was a disaster. If the Braves were fine with taking a chance on Riley and Camargo in the OF, they should have had no issue using Pence out there as the short side of a platoon.

Maybe the Rangers were being unreasonable in their ask for Pence, but he fit the needs of this roster almost perfectly. I could see him being a FA target in the off season.

Surely if an assignment starts for Swanson this week, he'd get more than 20

Perhaps, but it took him a long time already to recover from a bruised heel.

Marlins pitcher has pronounced splits, should be a good opportunity since we loaded up.

I’m more worried about players like Donaldson who are old and have an injury history. Freddie too because he’s had like 1 day off in the past two years and is about to be 30.

CAL RIPKEN DIDN'T NEED NO DAYS OFF
"Acuna is getting lucky, just like CJ did when he batted .321 and won a batting title. He is unlikely to get lucky at the MLB level over an extended period of time. He will settle in around .300-.320 just like everyone else, and when he does, he won't be within shouting distance of the 1.000 OPS he is posting in AAA...more like low .700s in 2018." -Enscheff 8/25/17
