    Adam Duvall Apology Thread

I led the charge against Adam Duvall. I said he was done, had nothing in the tank, and mocked AA for bringing him back.

I'm thrilled to say I was wrong.

While he's never going to be the guy we thought we were trading for, coming off the bench and launching that HR off a tough pitcher made everything worth it.

Hats off to you Adam. You deserve it.

The big difference for Duvall has been keeping the diabetes in check. As it apparently effected him quite a bit in the second half last year.

Ought to throw in another one to AA’s good buddy, the washed up Donaldson.

Duvall barely missed one vs LA last year that would have been big.

Duvall wasn’t on the postseason roster last year.

I think he showed he's exactly the guy we traded for, a guy who could come off the bench and maybe hit a HR. or not.

When we traded for him he was supposed to be a platoon starter with Ender. He's not that.

That said, that home run made him worth everything we traded and every dollar we've paid for him. I didn't think he had it in him.

I wouldn’t mind him being a platoon starter with anyone.

If the Braves splurge on Grandal and/or Donaldson, a platoon involving Duvall is very likely.

I agree he is exactly the player the Braves thought they were getting.

The plan for this offseason writes itself: Donaldson and/or Grandal. With the or part significantly more likely than the and part.

Maybe package one or both of Inciarte & Duvall to Cleveland for some of their prospects. Maybe Hankins, Espino and Benson for Inciarte and Duvall. Move Inciarte and Duvall's money. Cleveland needs the OF.

You have to plan ahead on Pache and Waters (plus maybe Riley). Start the year with Acuna in CF, Muk in RF and Riley in LF and project one or both Pache/Waters to be available in 2020.

Will all three of Riley, Pache and Waters pan out. Would be nice. But I think realistically one or more might not. These "problems" have a way of sorting themselves out. With the window of contention open, I doubt the Braves operate on the assumption a path needs to be cleared for player X. Going forward, player X will have to kick the door down to force his way into the lineup. And that is as it should be.

Going into 2019 with the plan of one or more of Riley/Pache/Waters getting the majorityof playing time at any position is a really bad idea.

If JD walks, we need to bring in Moose Tacos and let him platoon with Riley at 3b and LF needs to be filled via trade or sign a FA to a short deal. Muk and Duval needs to be a last resort option. Or resign JD and go with Muk/Duval or some other cheap option.
