While they're right about not handing the 3B job to Riley yet, it's still far too early to give up on him as a potential long-term answer unless you're getting one. You're also much more likely to get the type of elite inexpensive 3B answer or Ace if you were including Waters in the package instead of (or with) Riley.

You have to think Chapman is about as off-limits as anyone out there, but Beane's proven he's as big a riverboat gambler as there is - would he consider a Riley/Waters/Wright package for him? I'd doubt it as well, but that's the type of offer that AA could put together that most other teams couldn't match if he had Ozuna in the fold.
I typed out the same offer at almost the same time. If we added one more small piece that would be hard for Beane to say no to imo. That’s a very strong offer.

Pache would have to be involved in a Chapman deal, cant see how that wouldnt happen without Anderson or Pache, maybe both in it.

There hasn't been a time when there were so few options/fits since AA took over - eventually some of the stabs in the dark the "insiders" take have to come to fruition. If he can't afford Rendon/Donaldson and doesn't want to overpay for a Bryant/Correa, there aren't exactly many other middle of the order bats available.

Riley/Waters/Wright isnt that strong, would have to include Pache or Anderson at the very very least.

For Chapman I’d swap Waters out for Pache.

So you make it Pache, Riley, Anderson and keep Waters to replace Ender and Wright for the rotation - if it got you Chapman, who cares?

An Acuna, Ozzie, Freddie, Chapman, Ozuna top 5 makes you a legitimate contender for quite awhile. Use Melancon and Greene's money towards a 2 year extension for Freddie when it comes off next year.

Actually, that's OK. The Indians are likely going to figure out that they're probably going to have to trade Lindor this winter or at the deadline if they want the kind of earth-shattering return they need to do a really fast rebuild. Call them and offer Ender, Waters, Riley, and Anderson or Wright for Ramirez and Kluber and watch them turn Lindor into Lux, May, and Verdugo.

Talk about your instant rebuild - there you go.

The years is less of a concern since he’s 29. Although he’d essentially block Pache/Waters. I wonder if we sign Ozuna if we then don’t trade one of Pache/Waters to fill a hole elsewhere?

Agreed. Pache is the real deal. Warts or not, he is our best prospect. Waters has a good enough hit tool, but Pache should not be traded less a kings ransom.

Clv...just totally disagree with putting Pache in the deal. No way I give them arguably two of our three best prospects. Pache is a better replacement for Ender for me. (And I'm a big Waters fan).

Looks like we may have some company. AA may have to make a decision sooner rather than later.

Chapman and his 4 years of control is one of the very few players it would make sense to trade Pache to acquire.

The As aren’t trading Chapman this offseason though, and by the time they would consider trading him next offseason it’s quite likely Pache is too valuable for 3 seasons of him.
