At this point, I don't believe a single tweet or report in regards to Braves rumors. The only way I give it any credence at all is if it is confirming an already completed transaction.

Hate to hear that news in all honesty. We will be back rebuilding way before we should be.

I can't see a deal for Bryant happening before they resolve his grievance. Not unless the price is so low you'd be comfortable giving it for one year of Bryant.

I wonder if they have a deal locked in already and are just waiting on the final decision from the hearing? Deal A is agreed upon if KB only has 1 year left before free agency and deal B is agreed upon if KB has 2 years left before free agency?

oddly enough, they don't mention Arenado waiving the opt-out simply for the opportunity to play elsewhere. funny, that.

On JD’s decision to choose Minnesota over Atlanta “...it was tough to make that decision, but ultimately it wasn't in the same realm, financially..."

Gotta be great for Bowman, DOB, Gabe, et al to be scooped by a sports anchor.

Fascinating that the Braves sent a counter offer the day before that was still apparently way below Minnesota. Given that Donaldson specifically mentioned “length” in this interview, there is no way the Braves went to 4 years.

Not necessarily, since the Twins included a fifth year option. And there were credible reports (Rosenthal) that had the Braves at four years.

That 5th year option isn’t to Donaldson’s advantage, it’s the Twins to help de-risk the amount guaranteed in the contract.

If I had to guess, the Braves did something similar but with a three year guaranteed and club option in the 4th year.

I’d agree c2c. 3 years with a 4th option. AA had the money to match whatever, he just didn’t wanna go that many years.

Twins gave JD a good fair market deal.

I only wanted the Braves to keep him on a team-friendly deal.

I have no problems things unfolding the way they did.

My thoughts as well. Wish we had more time with the 2019 version of Josh Donaldson, but I’m not too upset to miss out on the 2022/2023 version.

I may be in the minority but I feel like the Braves best championship window will be once Pache establishes himself and one of Anderson/Wright/Davidson/Wilson joins Fried and Soroka as a TOR pitcher. So while I am fine supplementing the current core with short term contracts and trading the non-essential prospects (Riley, Waters, etc.), we need to balance that with maintaining flexibility to support those later teams.

JD is saying we didn’t offer him anything until late, like the day before. So the reports were pretty far off. I’m not sure they were ever that serious about him to be honest. If they were they wouldn’t have waited till the day before to make him an offer.

Heyman, Morosi, Passan, Rosenthal, DOB all said weeks ago that AA had a 4 year offer on the table. Now JD comes out that a mere pittance offer the day before he signed.

The 4th year could of been an option. But JD said the 2 offers weren’t even in the same realm as each other. I believe JD did wanna come back. The gap was just to big.

I’m gonna have to say JD in this case. He seemed a little bitter that the Braves didn’t try harder.
