We signed Ozuna and traded for Bryant and Lindor, and it crashed the site, right?

Passan said we made a late run at Rendon, have had talks with Arenado, and he wouldnt be surprised if we signed Bumgarner on a podcast with Russillo.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

If it's true that MLB will probably force the DH on the NL by 2021, then it makes perfect sense to give Donaldson four years.
Obviously.
The point is that Trout will be advancing into his 30s soon, and while everyone expects his production to continue to be awesome, he's human and faces an aging curve just like every player in the game. He's coming off of two seasons where he hasn't been completely healthy, and he's not 25 anymore. They need to start doing whatever it takes to surround him with better players - particularly Pitchers - in the next 2-3 seasons before it's realistic to expect his production to begin to slip...even if he remains the best player in the game.
You guys are the numbers "experts" - you tell us how much his production should be expected to decline over the next 3-4 years. The Angels will obviously need to replace that production as well. They haven't made the playoffs in forever with him producing at historic levels. If that production drops 5-10% between now and the time he turns 35, exactly how much more help do they need - especially before he advances into his late 30s?
As for Ohtani, re-read post #2461...
"If the Angels are serious about competing in a hurry, they ought to call Boston and offer Jo Adell for Price and Benintendi, then sign Donaldson and Ryu. J-Up would be off the books by the time Benintendi becomes a free-agent, and a Price, Otani, Ryu, Heaney rotation wouldn't be too bad especially if Price and Ryu are healthy. A Benintendi, Simmons, Trout, Donaldson, J-Up top 5 ought to score plenty of runs."

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Logic: it’s not for everyone
Somehow, this was all Charlie Culberson's fault.
We are back !
I’ve been checking the damn site 49hundred times a day....

If we really made a go for Rendon then that makes me think we could be real players for Arenado. If the Rockies like Riley then that would be a perfect match.
thank you weso1!
Heyman- Nats still appear focused on Josh Donaldson. Question is whether they go to 4th year. Braves seen as main competitor now, though several others have been involved. Washington plan B/C could be Maikel Franco. Could also look at Kyle Seager.
Just need to go ahead and give Donaldson the fourth year - would mean you added Donaldson, Hamels, Smith, and Martin for a 3rd round pick and money. He's going to get that 4th year from someone, stop putting off the inevitable.
AA has mentioned multiple times that there was no particular plan for the order that things were addressed, and that his main focus was on getting what's closest "done" so he could move on and address the other needs - he even mentioned this yesterday in an interview with XM. Get this done so there's nothing left to do but add Hechavarria and start planning jersey, bobblehead, and specialty nights so you can start paying for the contract.

As for your precious logic, exactly how much of that did the people that signed Cole, Strasburg, Rendon, and Wheeler exhibit while signing those deals?
It's kinda amazing how many "logical geniuses" that deal blackjack and post on internet message boards there are that never get phone calls when it's time to run MLB franchises, no???

Arenado is owed 7/234 with an opt out after 2021, which is worth approximately $20M.
Rendon just went to the highest bidder for 7/245, meaning nobody else was willing to pay that much.
Arenado carries virtually zero surplus value and is certainly not worth Riley unless the Rox include quite a bit of cash.
