Talks for Starling Marte are said to be “intensifying”.....

Would be nice to trade Greene and a prospect or two for Marte, then turn around and trade Inciarte.

    Acuña RF
    Albies 2B
    Freeman 1B
    Ozuna LF
    Marte CF
    D’Arnaud C
    Camargo/riley 3B
    Swanson SS

A Haniger BABIP between .310 and .330 is perfectly reasonable.
yes i said i doubt he carries a .336 long-term....not that .257 was more reasonable, or that .310 is unreasonable. not sure what your point is.

not sure why Pittsburgh would want Greene.

No reason at all, but that didn't stop them for trading for Chris Archer.

You said "he was a 27-year old who put up 4.5 WAR one time which was fairly luck driven."

I'm arguing that it wasn't that much luck driven... the BABIP was reasonable and if it was luck driven it was very slight

The athletic has an interview with AA. Schultz is oddly obsessed with Madison Bumgarner.

The most interesting thing to me is AA saying his budgets were 120m for 2018 and 140m for 2019. He exceeded that both years he says.

He more than implied he has room left this season.

160m would be a logical guess?

AA is really picky spender if that's true.

Probably not much more than that because when you get closer to 170-180 you're probably right at the luxury tax threshold

Still cant believe our payroll. Never thought we would be around 150 million. Didn't Necks contract have something weird where it applies a million to next year or something

Just don't get the feeling it will be pushed towards $160 million soon - unless a trade he can't refuse drops into his lap - who's left out there that's worth another $10 million somewhere we need to add a piece at this point? The rest is probably earmarked for potential deadline deals IMO.

Marte would be nice, but the asking price appears to be astronomical. Seager would arguably make sense if Seattle would take Ender's money back (or eat some of his money) in the deal. Several folks would love to see Holt added (me included), but since his name has popped up with several teams this week, is AA really going to try to outbid those guys rather than sit on that money until a few teams drop out of the race?
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Cause they don't have a closer with Vazquez facing some serious charges.

Obviously, getting a player of Marte's caliber is pretty great, but I don't feel he's much of a need. And honestly, there's a decent chance Marte and Ender have similar value. We need to be looking at 3b.
