Clearly the answer in the rotation is to sign Gausman after the Reds non-tender him.

Mancini is a butcher in the OF. Hopefully AA stays away from him.

This is the exact type of trade, targeting a stupid team, I expect AA to be involved. The only downside now is that we've heard about it early, and that doesn't usually happen with AA deals.
Current management at the Orioles is not as stupid as the group AA dealt with in 2018.

Good point. They are from the same FO tree that seems to value non-scrubs more than others, and the Braves have a lot of that kind of prospect.

Padres are showing just how dumb they are. Hosmer and now 4 years for Pomeranz. Ouch.

Justifying the Smith contract by stating “the Padres did something even dumber” is an odd comment.

Agreed... Gibson is underrated simply because he’s kinda boring. But he’s productive

Pomeranz's deal is pretty good, thought he may get a little more with the RP market being thin. He was lights out once he moved to the pen.

A bit surprised he got a third year. Frighteningly inconsistent pitcher.

Strictly as a pen arm I would've taken Pomeranz over Smith for that deal

Yeah based on a 2 month sample. I like the guy but a 4 year deal at that AAV is insane

Villar placed on waivers. Didn’t see that coming. I don’t know how he’d fit in because I really don’t want him being my primary third baseman but I’m interested

Smith is a proven all star who’s been very reliable. Pomeranz has only 2 months of a track record... that’s like deciding to pay Newcomb nearly $10 million a year for 4 years based on his first 2 months out of the pen. Would be crazy

I wouldn't want to pay Villar his arb price but would like to see if he could fit at 3rd money wise and be a backup at SS and 2nd. Better option than Culberson IMO.

Can’t believe a player scheduled to make $10 million who produced 4 fWAR was just placed on waivers. The Orioles are trash

Maybe they are trying to establish some value by seeing if any interest in Villar. Could package him with Bundy and get more.

No they can’t trade him anymore. That’s why they put him on waivers. They were searching for a trade partner and couldn’t find one. If he’s claimed the claiming team is on the hook for his salary. If not he becomes a free agent.

That’s why this is a really bizarre situation. Wonder if there’s something more we don’t know about.
