Not even sure what it would cost, but AA should call about Suarez from the Reds.

With the way AA operates, its gotta be considered positive news that we have heard very little on the JD front if you want JD back. I'd still prefer to make a trade for Bryant or shock with world with Rendon

$64M for Mous.
$34M for Pomeranz.
Good to see dumb teams making dumb FA signings again. Wow...smells of GMs under pressure to win now after a rebuild, no matter what it affects 2-3 years from now.
We should be happy if AA gets JD for less than $75M because the backup plan at 3b just got snatched up.

The Culberson non-tender makes a bit of sense when you think about the fact that keeping Riley on the roster instead saves you ~ $1.2 million to give to Donaldson. Camargo would be fine as the emergency SS in a game where Dansby got hurt, and he wouldn't kill you for a day or two until AA could scoop up a solid defensive replacement off the scrap heap in the event Dansby has to go on the IL.
Keeping Charlie around would be strictly about the clubhouse presence since he wouldn't be Dansby's replacement for 10 days/2 weeks either - the fan in me loves him too, but I'd rather have that cash to give to Donaldson.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
I'm dreaming of adding Rendon and Lindor... not gonna happen... maybe a ~1% chance, but freakin' A at that lineup.
The good thing about dumb front offices is that they can sometimes be fleeced in trades. The bad thing is that they can also ruin the free agent market.
thank you weso1!
Yeah I don’t think anybody thought Moose would get 4 years and 16 per. This may raise JD’s price or it may just be the Reds overpaying to get him off the market before the guys that lose out on Rendon and JD get desperate. Maybe AA is looking at Lindor or Betts like some speculation has kinda pointed to. If it’s not JD then I have no clue what’s gonna happen but the offense can’t be neglected bc we have over spent on the bullpen.
As for "dumb teams making dumb signings" - if the Reds still have available funds and they sign Didi, they just might be able to scare some people.

I agree with the part in bold. Other than the Smith deal, these early FA deals have come in above the general consensus of what those guys would get. This is probably due to teams paying what the FA wants to get a deal done now rather than at the end of the off season.
Since Mous was the clear Plan C for any contenders who missed out on Rendon and JD, it makes zero sense for him to sign before Rendon and JD unless he was offered a clear overpay...which he was. Good for Mous, he finally got the long term deal he deserved 2 years ago and was smart enough to grab it.
The Reds are probably going to regret the last 1-2 years of this deal, but the GM may not be around to care if they don't win in 2020, so this deal serves as a clear win now job saving move.

Boras getting this deal for Moose takes JD out of the picture for Braves IMO. Almost a sure thing his starting point will be 4 years and above $25M per
They'll make some move to improve the offense but if it's not JD, it's anyones guess what AA will do if it aint JD though with Moose off the board, and it being likely it wont be Rendon. But if Rendon would do a 4-5 year deal and not 7+, i'd be interested in AA going for that.
