This tells me this will be one of many moves and that they are all in this year.

Wonder if we DFA Greene to save the 6-7 million he’s due. I’m not really a huge Greene fan at all, so I’d be fine with it.

I was gonna post in the offseason thread, that i really have no idea what AA will do this winter, yup. I dont hate it or love it but MM and Greene are FA's after this year.

Greene at 6-7 mil is fine value.

This also shows we dont know what AA is planning, this is a move no one saw coming. AA works super quiet, to put it smoothly.

I'm hoping payroll is going up if this is one of our moves, losing a pick on a RP, albeit a really good one is interesting.

I don’t mind this at all. Building a dominate bullpen and a lefty makes me think Newk will be given every chance to be a starter next year. I think AA may have more money to spend than we were thinking.

Sorta like when we signed JD to a one year deal last year?

Agreed. I wonder if this is the offseason we have been waiting for

Then again, last year we signed McCann and Donaldson early then did nothing all offseason

I dont expect a crazy spending but we do have some money to spend.

We were at 89 mil before this move. AA either has gotten the green light he has more money to spend or he has a trade lined up to shed some salary elsewhere.

We assumed the Braves had $45M to spend, and they just used $13M of it on a solution to the 4th/5th biggest hole on the roster behind C, 3B, SP and maybe cOF.

And they gave up a pick to give a BP arm 3 years, something I never thought possible.

I have no idea what's going on anymore...

It’s officially our second highest pick and $500k of our already minimal international money to spend next year. For a reliever on the wrong side of 30. Wonderful.

This is our “JD” of the offseason folks. Some certain value signing at 3rd and catcher and go to war. We will recoup the pick with JD’s pick.

Also, never listen to what AA says, he said a few days ago, he's satisfied with the BP. Two days later gets the best RP on the market.

The BP is at least shaping up to be a strong unit, as of now: Smith/Greene/MM/Luke/O'Day/Newk/Dayton, Sobotka, Minter, Touki, others. I can see one of Greene or MM shipped to free up some cash, having 30+ of the payroll in the bullpen isnt an ideal way to spend for a mid level payroll team.

Curious what this means for the rotation.

I just looked at Sportrac and in 2020 we currently have $7.5 mil allotted to the rotation.

    Lol

Either we finally got what we’ve all longed for and the Braves are upping payroll and we should all be excited or this is a bad use of limited funds and we are going cheap on more pressing needs..
