Hamels on a 1 year deal is better than Bumgarner on a multi year deal. If they can finish this off by bringing Donaldson back for 3 ,years I think they will have done a decent job of putting the team in position to win. Not really excited about anyone in the rotation other than Soroka but plenty of potential for a fluky good season. The pen seems well set up for the rule change.

I love Fried. Last year was the only year he’s been able to stay healthy. That’s my worry with him.

Hamels had a .384 BABiP second half last year. He was good all year but was rushed back a bit quickly from oblique.

I could see Hamels doing wonders with Fried. They have always looked similar to me and hopefully it helps out. I still think we need 2 more offensive pieces to be really dangerous. JD and Ozuna or Lindor and another bat but I think we need 2.

I'm looking to see any improvements in n Frieds change. That was always Hamels out pitch.

i mean this is a very legitimate concern for a young pitcher who previously was never healthy. fair thing to worry about.

Maybe I'm a posibrave but this 1 year deal seems to make a Donaldson signing more likely than less.

I agree we need 2 bats, i dont see that happening though. I think we get one big bat, then maybe wait for the deadline to get another if possible depending whats available. Provided the Braves are in contention.

I think they’ll make a big trade at some point and hopefully it’s a bat. Haniger and Lindor both come to mind but it would be only one. JD and Haniger or JD and Marte make the most sense imo.

I dont see AA bringing back JD, and if it's not JD, i have no idea who he brings in.

How bad do the Yankees need pitching? Where do they turn if they miss on any of the big FA pitchers? What would it take from us, considering, to get Frazier AND Andujar?

What did Keuchel offer to the youngsters?I always kind of lol at the narrative that these veteran pitchers are always gonna come in and be a 2nd pitching coach. Doesn't always work out the way we think.

I'm sure someone out there is crediting him with Soroka's strides, though I'd argue that happened before we even signed Keuchel.

All depends. I remember Teheran got a lot of help from Anibal Sanchez

He wasn’t there for spring training either.

Newk issues are between his ears IMO. He needs someone to to see if he be a starter. Hearing him and Sirius talk about pitching it’s night and day.

    From FG:

“Hamels’ +11.6 runs above-average on the changeup in 2019 was his highest single-season mark since 2015. His changeup was more valuable this season than it was in the last three seasons combined.

“Hamels specifically pitched his changeup in the strike zone more often (For example, 32.4% of Hamels’ changeups in 2019 were in the strike zone, compared to 27.5% in 2018) and was rewarded with such fortunate results because hitters tended to roll them over. That may not continue in 2020, but if I were a team looking for starting pitching, seeing Hamels have this much success with his changeup would make me want to call his agent right away.”
