They don't get to that until senior year.

There should be NO excuse on Dansby part for not running. There have been many "cover your ass" excuses laid out. The only one not laid out was Dansby had his head up his ass.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I mean he might not have thought he swung... and if you start running, youre guranteeed to be called as a swing.

Id agree if he did a full swing and stood there but a check swing is just an odd cicurmstance

No. Your goal is to get on base and score that run. Not continue your at bat. Wild pitch I would want the ump to think I swung it it meant I got to get on first and the run scored.

Just like they wouldn't make an issue of it if he wore his cap cocked.

Except that Snitker didn’t even talk to him about it. The first time Acuña did it last year, he didn’t pull him, but he sat him down afterwards.

    Double standard.

Thank you. The first time it happened with Inciarte not running something out Snit talked to him about it. Second time, he was out of the game. And of course Acuna got talked to right away.

When I was a kid I was a pretty bad hitter and always was on the lookout for a chance to get on base via dropped third strike. That was my thing. I guess if you are a major league quality hitter you don't develop that level of situational alertness that I had.

I think it's different bc maybe Dansby didn't know it was called a swing.

Acuna didn't know they changed the baseballs. Didn't stop him from getting **** on while his teammates forgot how to hit with nothing said about them.

Yea exactly. The umpire didn't even make it clear what the call was! It wasn't like Dansby half ran to first after knowing it was a strike.

He should've run it out, but it seemed pretty clear he thought the call was "ball", and was trying to get out of the way of the play.

I swung at a couple 0-2 pitches that were well out of the zone using the same strategy.

I can't even imagine if you were playing in the little leagues nowadays how negative your WAR would be on the team.
