Does this qualify as the official first BSoML story of the season?

Fredi vindicated. Remember when he kept resting Freddie just to be safe and Freddie kept getting mad?

So wait, we've only ever seen "in nigh-constant pain with a ****ed up elbow" Freeman?

If he has a really bad year, we'll need someone to start smacking him in the elbow with a hammer just before every game.

So you're saying he should have been traded 9 years ago?

OT, but I think Camargo is already in over the line for the first BSoML.

This dude is a career .293 hitter with 227 HR and 805 RBIs while playing through constant injury? Damn.

He'd be over .300 with 300 hr and 1000 rbis at this point if healthy.

I love Freddie, I really do, but he has some making up to do this year. He has been amazing, and I'm not trying to take anything away from any of that, but he played seriously hurt through September and into the playoffs, and it cost us. To find out that this has been such an ongoing problem that could've been fixed during the offseason is close to infuriating. It is certainly beyond frustrating.

Players should not be making these decisions.

Playing through pain that develops within a season is one thing - that's the kind of decision that involves balancing a lot of competing interests, and there's no easy, one-size-fits-all answer there. Not getting a lingering injury cleared up during any given offseason at some point in the last nine years (in a way that would easily get you back in time for spring training) is mind-boggling.

As Paul Harvey would say, "Here's the rest of the story".

    From MLBTR

As of yesterday afternoon, the outlook was rather positive on Freddie Freeman’s troublesome right elbow. But he was scratched from his scheduled spring appearance today owing to inflammation in the joint.

It’s not time to panic if you’re a Braves fan. The club made clear it’s a precautionary move. And some amount of swelling in the elbow at some point was probably inevitable. Freeman, after all, required fairly extensive cleanup work over the offseason to address painful bone spurs.

The club has also stated that however that there is no timetable for Freddie’s return.
