Memorial day caused more than mass protests? Come on now.

Looks like the folks who wanted us to adopt the Swedish model got their wish.

As they say, careful what you wish for.

I mean he was killed on Memorial Day. Mass protesting didn't start till several days after.

Florida re-opened beaches on Memorial Day weekend and they were packed out. As someone who was in Florida at this time, I can vouch that the beaches, restaurants, bars, etc. were all maxed out. Same for Texas beaches and lakes. And again, we saw a jump in cases about 2 weeks after Easter as well, so this is 2 straight holidays in which we've seen spikes in cases 2 weeks after.

But yes, mass protesting have likely attributed to the jump in cases as well.

Well you have a nice readymade excuse. Hospitalization rates have been going up in many places without significant demonstrations. But blame the protests.

So is a bar a crowded noisy place?

Do people speak loudly in bars?

Does yelling to make yourself heard expel large amounts of air?

Does this take place in an enclosed area where people are packed together for an extended period of time?

    Am I missing anything?

So when people decided to go outside more people got sick? Man, thats earth shattering.

And how much have they increased in raw numbers? Another 10 in a whole county? Is that even relevant? How about hownmany of those convert to deaths? Maybe 1?

    So what is your position?

    I'm confused.

I thought you were an advocate of outdoor activity. If so you should be pleased or indifferent at people gathering outdoors.

You tell me. There has been a lot of ink spilled on superspreading events. Are there any conclusions that can be drawn?

I mean the restaurants were doing their best to follow social distancing guidelines, but it didn't seem much different than any other time I've been to Florida. And certainly the beaches weren't any different either. The place I was staying at constantly had 15-20 people in the pool at the same time. I assume it was the same about everywhere else based on the overall crowd. Stores and local shops weren't doing anything different whatsoever either.

    No idea.

I have no problem with protests, beaches, whatever. I think herd immunity is the only ticket out now

I asked if someone could explain away the spike in cases.
You responded with a programmed question that was beside the point.

    I note it
It is me that is angry
Answer the question if you can.
If you cant --- save your inanities for someone else

I dont think you have an answer. Or you do you find it deplorable and a true reflection of your ideology

Cases will spike when people start congregating and we test more people.

Its gonna be ok. We know the numbers. It's not nearly as deadly as you all hoped it was

More people out-and-about will equal more cases. Just like we'll see more cases in a couple weeks bc of protests and more openings. One day closer to herd immunity...

I've been on board with re-opening for a few weeks now, at least in areas of the country that haven't been hit hard and as long as they have proper plans in place. But herd immunity is very, very far away. Remember when Sweden was supposed to reach herd immunity in May? Good times.

78 more deaths in Sweden, which translates to about 3,000 over here
