My take comes from reading what the scientists have been saying. And the scientists have actually not nailed it down for sure. There are various theories about the chain of transmission that are being investigated. One theory that seems to have a fair amount of support is from bats to civets to humans. But as I said it is something under investigation. I don't think there is a firm conclusion at this point.

I'm not an expert in the field, but I do have two children who work in the bio sciences (one at the CDC) and I've discussed some of these things with them.
