It did not say long sustained contact. It said a few minutes. That could be something as common as waiting in line somewhere or being in the same aisle. I don't know about your area, but very few people around here are respecting the guidelines while in public. I literally had someone come down the wrong way in the grocery store yesterday, without gloves or mask, and nearly bump into me on the way by. Then they stopped two feet from me and started looking at the shelf. I moved on down and waited for them to leave the area to come back to get what I was looking for in the same spot. They were there about four minutes. Probably enough time to expose me if I hadn't moved.

Go out in public and time how many times someone is within 6 feet of you for even 1 minute. Youll find thats few and far in between.

Very few, if any, of the people I know who wear masks are doing it for themselves or out of fear.

Meanwhile, my friend was verbally and physically assaulted at Target yesterday because she was wearing one. She caught it on video and everything. My viewpoint could potentially save lives while the opposite is actually getting people hurt.

Strange. I don't even wear one on a walk. I just cross the street to avoid someone if they are coming.

Funny story: Was at the auto store the other day and this older lady came in without a mask. She bought some stuff and asked some questions and then went to her car (by herself). She then put on a mask and drove away.

My grandfather had cancer. When we visited him, even if we were just going into the house to clean up or prepare meals or whatever, we all had to wear a mask. Because, even if we didn't spend time around him, not having the mask on in an area he could be at any point in the near future could've killed him. Masks are about safety. Even if they only offer minimal safety in certain circumstances, that small amount could be a life. Or maybe two. Possibly more. And all it costs me is a little discomfort for a few minutes. I wish my ancestors had had masks.

I do think there are changes that need to be made in public to stop that from being necessary. Sneeze guards and such. I feel like we could work through the problem and figure out some steps to take to minimize the damage (and it is happening right now as we've seen). Until those things have changed, I do think masks are a necessary bandage while suffering a wound.
