The useful idiots in the replies who are begging for their government to mandate a muzzle on their face, tells you that liberty is not for long in this country.

15 days to slow the spread is turning into permenant mandates, with the people cheering

They will not give it up willingly.

Everyone, remember to pay attention to messaging. With success from states that have mask mandates, and with success from states with high vaccination while places like Brazil are falling to pieces and other places like Sweden adopted stricter guidelines, remember to follow messaging. If you notice, when accusing California they're talking about Economy. It's because California, one of the rare liberal states that benefits from good weather and their cases are low. Why is it that states that are currently doing the best on active cases are blue states? Look at active cases per 100K and you see of the top 10 States+DC, one firmly red state (West Virginia) a purple state (New Hampshire) and a bunch of Blue (Hawaii, Vermont, Maine, Oregon, Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia) expand to top 15 and you add 2 blue (Colorado and Michigan) 2 red (Alaska and Ohio) and 1 Purple (PA)

Look at the bottom 10 you see 1 blue (Rhode Island) a few purples (Wisconsin and Arizona) and a lot of Red (both Dakotas, Utah, Tennessee, Iowa, Oklahoma and Nebraska)

Now of course, the messaging will be clear, they'll talk about economies. How California hurt their economy, how New Jersey and New York hurt their economies. etc. The messaging is going to change because when the numbers are finalized we'll see that States like FLorida are going to have some big excess death numbers. Be prepared for this talk. And remember that all the rich care about is getting richer. They don't care about you. They don't care that almost half a million excess deaths happened during the first year or so of the Pandemic. They don't. They only care that they make more money.

Remember the reason FLorida has run their economy the way that have is because they make it so hard to go on unemployment, and their state's unemployment coffers are so low, that they cannot afford to pay people to be unemployed.

As someone who lives in a state with semi-reasonable republican leadership, there are decent folks out there. Just remember to get away from the death cult of trump and things will get better for the whole world

Excess death theory is suspect because if anyone wanted to they could validate that they were covid deaths. Ask yourself why this hasn’t happened yet.

You know who also cares about money? Works clas families that had their livelihoods taken from them because obese people didn’t isolate themselves during the pandemic and didn’t care enough about their own health to be prepared for something like this.

The idea this is about rich people sounds like someone who has never had an interruption or had a family to provide for.

OK so if we "isolate" the obese people that is 36.5% of the us population overall, but that isn't what we need to look at we need to look at the working class. CDC estimates 40% of the population 20-39, 44.8% of the population 40-59. So somewhere around 42% of the working population would be forced to isolate and you think the economy could continue? Current unemployment is around 6%. We know jobless rate is higher than that but I couldn't find it on a quick search. You're basically advocating putting 40% of the working population out of work because 6% is too high? Seems foolish to me and like a hell of a great way to truly tank the economy.

Again, remember your messaging sane people. People like thethe think their points are smart, but reality is they're not.

That doesn't even go into the stats inside obesity. I will always be overweight because you know what my ideal BMI is? 175. You know who I'm built like? A lot more like Khalil Mack than Julio Jones. Even then I'm probably more barrel chested and broader shouldered than Mack. Joe Thomas post playing is borderline obese, 6'6 250 pounds, I don't know if you've seen Thomas post playing career, but he's probably around 10% body fat. A number most people would love to be. He isn't overweight or obese. It's because BMI isn't a good stat to base people's wellness on

I could go on to poke more holes in your post. But I think the biggest one was already poked. That isolating the obese would lead to a much larger loss of economy than anything proposed by even the most liberal states. So kudos.

Excess deaths have flaws to them. I want to pair it with indepth research. My hunch, and I'm happy to admit it if I'm wrong. Florida has a massive increase in deaths that probably were COVID but weren't reported or tested so they weren't counted. My guess is Pneumonia is a leader.

And yet they are reported as if they are guaranteed covid deaths.

With all the panic porn being sold I can guarantee you if they were covid deaths we would have endless studies.

Your issue is you think 100% of the obese working age population worked. But you go ahead and make your faulty assumptions.

Obese people should make their own decisions and the rest of us should have kept the economy afloat. Instead of your ~55% of working age people [not actual workers] that could have stayed working is much higher than the population that actually worked and consumed during the pandemic.

Lockdowns have undoubtedly caused massive generational economic and societal devastation. Look at what is happening around the country right now.

Problem is we were never honest with the people. Bill Maher said the same as well.

One of my first arguments with Carp income virus was that a blended death rate is the worst way to look at this pandemic. Another piece I was right about.
