It’s wild that o know people who have only stepped foot outside their homes a handful of times the past year+.

Like a whole year of your precious life indoors. Depressing to even think about.

Trump appointed federal judge strikes down CDC eviction moratorium. Am I the only one who thinks it's crazy that anyone is okay with CDC doing this? Talk about not staying in your lane.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/05/fede...ction-ban.html

    KEY POINTS
A federal judge struck down on Wednesday the national eviction moratorium, potentially leaving millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.
Housing advocates have said that the national ban is necessary to stave off an unprecedented displacement of Americans, which could worsen the coronavirus pandemic just as the country is turning a corner.
Property owners have criticized the policy and say landlords can’t afford to continue housing people for free.

It’s ridiculous...they shouldn’t have the authority to impose eviction moratoriums

People won't go back to work if they can't be evicted and get paid to stay home. Once you become dependent on the govt for everything they got your vote in their pocket.

No one ever votes against the entity sending them checks.

Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing where the CDC gets the power to impose an eviction moratorium. A governor in a public health emergency could probably do it. Not sure the CDC has the power.

I mean yeah, I don't know how the CDC can say that, President, sure that would be possible, though it would probably still get shut down and could only be minimal. Congress, for sure. Governors, certainly. CDC, that's stupid.

I'm not opposed to the eviction moratorium, but I think it needs to be targeted

It was clear even he didn't believe those CDC guidelines were correct but felt obligated not to throw the CDC under the bus. Masking kids outdoors is just silly.

I believe that authority came from Congress in the early days of COVID under the Trump admin as a means to slow the spread. The CDC authority was extended a couple of different times by Congress, but never past Biden's inauguration.

There is zero science to support it. These institutions have lost all credibility among critical thinkers. The damage they've done to their reputation will never be restored

Interesting. Will want to track that.

Meanwhile, Missouri state employees are in an uproar bc the governor is mandating them back to work.

    The horror!

But teachers are still the worst

I have no problem with reasonable use of unemployment. You're literally paying for it when you work. I do have an issue with unemployment when it incentivizes not working. It's insurance you pay for, not a means of indefinite support.
