Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
This is the downfall of MLB this season. Not picking a couple of hub cities around the country to have all the players stay at and play. Instead they’ve got entire teams and staff traveling (sometimes on domestic airlines) but regardless out of busy airports, staying in multiple hotels, eating out, and they’re wondering why so many teams are having outbreaks. There’s no control on the players or teams in this situation. NBA and NHL are doing it right with the bubble cities.

That's a full 20% of teams now not playing because of outbreaks (on 10%, with the other 10% off because they have no opponent).
Everything will be fine. There will be lots of double headers and maybe a few teams don't play a full 60.
You're crazy if you think they cancel the season now.
Today’s scheduled game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park has been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader on Sunday, August 2nd at 1:10 p.m. (CT). The rescheduling as a result of two positive COVID-19 tests in the Cardinals’ organization is consistent with protocols to allow enough time for additional testing and contact tracing to be conducted.

Maybe if they cancel enough games due to poor leadership on Manfred’s part we can schedule triple headers where teams only play 5 innings. What a mess.
I read somewhere Manfred knew about the positive tests when Miami played Philadelphia and then let the players make the decision to play by way of player vote. That can’t be true. Can it? I mean if it is that has to be some serious negligence by MLB and Manfred.

Nick Madrigal called up by the White Sox.
MLB didn’t try very hard. Their hub “plans” were poorly thought-out, would largely have been untenable due to weather (heat in Phoenix, rains in Florida), and would’ve been staged in CoViD hotspots.
Players might have balked at even the best-laid bubble plans, but we never got to that point, because MLB never floated anything remotely viable.

BREAKING: MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told MLBPA executive director Tony Clark on Friday that if the sport doesn’t do a better job of managing the coronavirus, it could shut down for the season, sources tell ESPN.

This weekend is seen as a crucial juncture for the sport, both in terms of hoping for a limit of positive tests and in players abiding by protocols. Local health officials have been troubled by the lack of mask wearing, high-fiving and spitting by players, according to sources.

The conversation between Manfred and Clark was not a threat but a reality check that was relayed to players -- and has spread quickly among them: We -- all of us -- need to clean this up, because if we don't, Major League Baseball in 2020 is going to be over.

Yeah if this keeps going on, this is going to get shutdown. There's new cases of CV every day in baseball, it's bad. I wouldnt even blame them if they have to shutdown, honestly, would suck but oh well.
