More ridiculous luck after they had ridiculous all time luck getting the first pick in the Harper/Strasbourg drafts.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

How long should the Braves have had to wait to get a top 10 pick after winning their division 14 straight times?

Is that what he wanted? Or was he asking a question?

And you should know the ump was clearly wrong on that strike call.

Baseball doesn't have technical fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, so the ump is limited. Sure it was a blown strike call, but we've seen blown strike calls all season long and people aren't kicking dirt on the plate. Donaldson acted like the ump f*cked his wife or something.

The ump can also answer a question without being an asshole but they can't seem to be able to do that these days either. The sooner they are replaced the better the game will be.

Donaldson isn’t married, so I’m pretty certain it didn’t happen, chief.

I liken this more to the Spurs getting the first pick the year David Robinson got hurt.

The Nats had bad injury luck in a short season. There are worse ways to score a top 5 pick.

So if things would have gone south for the Braves this year after Freeman got the virus, Soroka went down, and Fried, Ozzie, and Acuna all went down for a period of time the Braves should still have to pick in the high 20s?

Not sure how many people truly expected them to be great. Pitching health is always iffy (particularly coming off of a deep playoff run), and they've got two really good hitters and a whole bunch of question marks.

It's how draft picks are determined...???

Nats deserve a top 5 pick. I’m just stating they are fortunate there bad luck year was in a 60 game season.

Not so sure what’s controversial about that...

My point was that they have identical records after 53 games. Now, and when they won the world series a year ago.

It is funny. The big difference is that the Nats were very unlucky to start the season last year while this year they just aren't good. It's a good thing they did win las year because I don't see their immediate future being that bright.

Nothing sweeter than the Nats sweeping the Phillies, so the Phillies don’t make the playoffs and the Nats get a higher draft pick.

I know Keuchel has been very solid this season. And I was firmly behind the midseason acquisition last year (even if less-than-thrilled by the playoff rotation that followed). And I know that the Braves rotation has been mostly omnishambles this season.

But, watching this Keuchel start against Cleveland, I'm nonetheless quite happy Anthopoulos didn't commit to him long-term. The final line will look solid, but it definitely felt like he walked a tight-ass rope to get there, with some hard-contact that just stayed in the park, or found a fielder's glove.
