Honestly, it's good to have baseball news to discuss that's not Covid related. I've never seen a time where there were months where essentially nothing happened in baseball. No trades, no free agent signings, no games, nothing. I've seriously missed it.

Either Shuster is signing for close to slot or else AAs idea of having someone available to overslot in the 3rd didn't pan out. Franklin isn't a bad pick but he doesn't look like a big overslot candidate.

I actually like the Franklin pick. He's got some good upside.

No difference going over slot in 3rd or 5th, especially with who is left on the board.

But I expect both picks so far to sign for close to slot.

Wouldn't likely have been drafted if he wasn't.

I'm gonna throw out a comp of Mark Kotsay for Franklin. Might be way off but that's the guy that comes to mind.

His looping swing path is similar to Neck.

I can see that. The little bit of speed, little bit of pop, mixed with some BBs at CF while batting and throwing lefty reminded me of Kotsay.

I’m thinking more of a Edmonds/Griffey hybrid honestly. Maybe a better eye at the plate though.
