Bryce is over 22 and his dad played in the majors, so he might be a candidate for an under slot deal.

It’s fine as long as he doesn’t showboat and disrespect the game.

He seemed really boring to me at first, but if the velo jump is real, he could be a good value that we get because he didn't have a full season to showcase the newfound stuff. Definitely a risk though.

Worth noting that Jarvis is already 22 and turns 23 in December, so he's older than I would've guessed.

Fangraphs on Jarvis: "In 2019, he was 88-92 with an average breaker, above changeup, some feel. Velo climbed into 93-94 area without sacrificing plus command. Chance for plus changeup and breaking ball that plays above raw grade because of how well it's located."

Pipeline on Jarvis: "A year ago, Jarvis was a strike-thrower with a good changeup and big league pedigree (son of former pitcher Kevin), who could have gone toward the end of the top 10 rounds if he were signable as a sophomore-eligible. He wasn't and turned down the Yankees as a 37th-rounder, then opened eyes with a much stronger body and stuff in the fall. Scouts wanted to see if he could maintain them over a full college season and never got the chance to find out, but he did throw one perfect game and flirt with another in his four starts -- which may be enough for him to join Marcus Stroman as the only first-round picks ever out of Duke.

After working with an 88-93 mph fastball at the beginning of 2019 and dipping to 86-91 by season's end, Jarvis added 20 pounds to his 6-foot-2 frame and operated at 92-96 with effective downhill plane last fall and this spring. His breaking ball used to be average at best, and now he flashes a plus curveball in the upper 70s that he can manipulate into a distinct and equally effective slider in the mid-80s. His fading changeup remains his best secondary offering, grading as well above average at its best.

Jarvis has improved his control along with his stuff, posting a 40-2 K-BB ratio in 27 innings while showing the ability to move his pitches around the strike zone. He repeats his delivery well and long has drawn praise for his competitiveness. Though he's already 22, has a narrow frame and lacks a long track record of displaying first-round stuff, he couldn't have been much more spectacular this spring."

Yeah, exactly. College for the first 2 picks and high school for the last 2? Doesn’t really strike me as an early/late thing.

"Unimpressive, fringe-y talent for most of his life, before one great but abbreviated stretch the spring before the draft" is not terribly enticing to me.

Fangraphs mock has zero specific info for us other than us taking Ohio State catcher Dillon Dinger: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2020-mock-draft-mach-one/.

Why would Atlanta take college catchers in the first round in back to back drafts? Doesn't seem reasonable.

Pretty clear they are drafting on five star name and nothing else. We should embrace this philosophy

AGREED. This guy should be in the conversation to go 1:1 if it weren't for the pitcher named ASA.

They still have us taking McMahon.

Jarvis at #27 to the Twins, Wilcox at #28 to the Yankees, Ginn at #35 to the Rockies.

The new mock includes Comp Picks (through #37), and doesn't have anyone taking Walker before then.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Not a fan of that pick, I’d prefer any of the other three you listed

Depends on the information they have on him. Doesn't seem particularly sexy, but when you go back and read Pipeline's blurb on Dingler, they mention that area scouts have dropped Sean Murphy comps on him - pretty good if that worked out.

Having three highly-rated soon-to-be-ready Catcher prospects wouldn't be a bad thing IMO. Frees AA up to include one of them in a monster deal without hurting our depth.

Law has ATL taking Jarvis in his 2nd Mock Draft. Also says he’s heard Braves Are likely to be HS heavy in the draft.
