i saw this said, too. that he wouldn’t have been taken at this spot if he weren’t going to sign.

Callis just wondered if this fourth round pick was a money saver. We are now 3-for-3 with people wondering that after all of our picks. Ha

to be fair Franklin is possibly a higher pick without the injury

didn’t a bunch of analysts say the Braves were going to be focusing on prep players?

Whoever heard the Braves were going heavy on high school kids was obviously misinformed. Seems like an odd draft, but it is indeed an odd year.

Lot of odd circumstances but can't say that any of AA's drafts have really seized the imagination.

    Not that it's important.

It's helpful to remember that you really aren't going to pull anything over on anyone when you are down a pick in a five round draft and you're picking late.

Obviously none of us know much, if anything, but I miss the fun and projection that came with the Bridges drafts. The AA drafts are just kind of boring.

Doesn’t mean it’s bad or wrong, just not overly fun the follow.

Sorry, my sarcasm detector is faulty.

Is this real? How do exit velocities with college bats compare to wood?

Bryce Elder from Texas is the final pick. Callis thought he’d go in the third. Called it tremendous value

Sounds like Elder would be our over slot pick.

DOB- #Braves scouting chief Dana Brown said Bryce Elder will probably be an overpay in 5th round -- he had been projected as a 3rd-rounder but fell because of signability. But Braves should have the money in their pool to sign him and their other 3 picks.

Going overslot on a low ceiling college arm sums this up pretty well.

It’s like they had the same strategy as last year but forgot they didn’t have the extra rounds for high school guys.
