Kansas Democrats have already more than tripled their turnout from the 2016 presidential caucus after switching to an all-mail May 2 party primary this year.
As of Monday evening, the party had processed 138,430 ballots compared to a turnout of 39,266 voters in 2016, when caucus goers went for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The spike in turnout occurred despite Sanders dropping out this month and endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden, the party’s presumptive nominee.
This will be a subject surely to be heavily discussed as we head to November.
It's been standard in a few states for years.
GOP Politicians obviously don't want it because it will increase Blue Turnout.
But I'm of the opinion that it would actually be good in the sense it would force the GOP to start pushing moderate candidates again, and rid us of the hypocrites like the Tea Party caucus.
We'd get more Romney types nominated by the GOP, and districts would be competitive. This would also break the gridlock in Washington I would think.
