why is it necessary to post this topic 2 times??
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Every team is doing this. If the Braves are smart and do this right...they can sign other players that have been cut with higher ceilings.

I don’t really think any of the players cut from any team are going to be picked up by anyone else. Every team is doing this in a cost cutting move, especially with the upcoming consolidation of minor league teams. Each team is going to have to purge even more players from their ranks.

This draft could signal the beginning of the end of the minor league system as we know it. With tons more HS players going to college this year, MLB could decide to decimate the minors even more and utilize NCAA as their pipeline. Each team would then maybe only need 1-2 minor league teams while the younger players would play in college.

Moving MiLB into the college ranks where folks are more likely to cheer for their college team may have a positive impact on MLB interest among fans.

If MLB teams consist of NCAA stars rather than high school kids nobody has ever heard of, folks may follow new players more closely.

Hasn’t stopped MiLB thus far. The majority of players there are making peanuts.
